Hi, folks! :)

I love to play EU3 completely ahistorical. I really love to change history as roleplay and I think thats why I am so addicted to EU3, lol.
I also like it if I have options to change country name if I feel to do so. But that is the point where I still have questions in EU3.

So...

My scenario right now:

I play as bohemia and have just for fun inherited Lübeck and Antwerpen due to the trade stations and harbors. Financially it was a great decision.
Apart from my Bohemia landmass I do also own Artois and Flandern near Antwerpen as I had to help the rich defeeting burgundy, you maybe know that this is happening at start.

My questions are now...
What would happen if I move my capital later on either to Lübeck or the three provinces in west called Antwerpen, Artois and Flandern?
I mean would it be then possible to become either called Lübeck or Flandern? I mean they dont exist on the map. I own them. Is this possible when I move my capital?
Can you tell me something about it? And if not possible on this way.. what can I do to archieve such a funny and ahistorical story?

Next question is about the national focus which is placed on the province bhömen right now. For what is this thing used? Should I rather place the national focus on Lübeck or Antwerpen if I want to push these areas?

Hope someone has some infos for me :)

ask in the mod forum about name change-the focus needs to be on or adjacent to the capital to pass "expand bureaucracy" and "weights and measures" province decisions-aside from that , you should place it where the bonuses are most needed-focus can only be moved again after 25 years so choose wisely....

Thank you about the info with the national focus. I then consider to place both national focus and capital on antwerpen when I´ve got cores there.

About the capital move and name change I really dont want something to be modded. I rather thought it would be possible by gameplay? I mean if I place my capital on another culture group, would this give me an event that I can become this country? Or do you say I should ask in the modding forum because the people there know about every events and what is possible by gameplay and theirfor can explain me?

It will not chance the name, only the culture. However, by changing culture, you might unlock the possibility to enact a "form nation"-decision later on. If you control a dutch majority in nothern flandern, you may -- for example -- be able to form the Netherlands when you gain the appropriate cores.

If you change capital to your flemish provinces, you can swap primary culture if you own more flemish provinces than say, czech ones. Then, you will have an option to form the Netherlands, but that will require a few more cores in that area to enable.

I know already how that can be done. Lübeck or Hansa was just one example here. I think I would not form or rename to Lübeck as I played them already often and owned complete europe with them and more. I would not like to play them again at least now.

The question was rather general about the possibilitys I have if I change capital or own provinces of other nations or culture groups. But anyway thanks for helping :)

It will not chance the name, only the culture. However, by changing culture, you might unlock the possibility to enact a "form nation"-decision later on. If you control a dutch majority in nothern flandern, you may -- for example -- be able to form the Netherlands when you gain the appropriate cores.

This descripes that it is possible to become another nation under your mentioned requirments. Forming Netherland with Bohemia could be a fun try as well if they have more cores then bohemia. If so then I wait for the cores and maybe I will try that out. Should be fun :)

So basicly I do understand now that I could do all the Unification Events if I have more cores on that specific culture group then in my own landmass if I move my capital there.

Thank you all for the infos :)

You not only need your capital there, you need to enact the "cultural change" decision. This, however, is only available for your dominant culture, so if you own and have cores on all over England for example, you won't be able to culture swap to some smaller culture like Flemish. I'm not exactly aware of how much Czech provinces exist, but you should conquer every Flemish province if you want to culture swap. Even then you might need to sell some of your Czech provinces.
Remember, that you will stay Bohemia if you culture swap to any other culture. You can, however, become the Netherlands if you are Flemish cultured.

To elaborate: the unification decisions (not events) are a list of very specific decisions to reform one's country into it's historical successor state. More specifically, the decisions pertain to cases in which a common culture split over many different countries can be united into a greater union like the Netherlands, Great Britain or Italy.

However, since these decisions are culture-oriented, they may also be accessed by a country that has culture shifted. Culture-shifting, however, required a majority population, which means that it is hard to transition from, lets say prussian into lithuanian. An England that has conquered France might find it easier to convert, since the new culture exists in a zone with more people and land. Also, when you form a cultural union like Great Britain and Scandinavia, you will loose the option of culture-shifting a second time since one might otherwise just work oneself through the ten unions and gain the cores.

In your case, I don't think you'll be able to find enough dutch or flemish provinces to culture-shift, but maybe.

The list of unification decisions can be found here: http://www.paradoxian.org/eu3wiki/Decisions#Unifications_and_name_changes

There exist (at game start) more Dutch provinces than Czech provinces.
