What's the research penalty for a 2100 tech? Of course, if the game is allowed to run until then, I see no reason why giant stompy robots and alien technologies shouldn't be available tech choices. I'm sure the developers wouldn't mind including all of the graphics and other changes necessary.

Fantasy? Its practically fact, The devs confirmed we are going to get ED-209 as its real and I saw it in a film.

I wouldn't mind a 1984 mod

Never-ending war between three super-blobs could be a little on the grim side, plus the only techs you'd be able to research would be "mind-control tech #143", and the only minister would be Big Brother.

I did play a Civ II 1984 mod back in the 90's, and it was actually pretty cool, albeit in a dark way.
