Oh, sim earth, this brings back memories. Always wondered why there never was a sequel. Same goes for sim ant! :)

Not to forget the original sim farm!

I would like to see spiritual successor to SimFarm be made. I liked some aspects of SimFarm like a town's relationship with your farm, finance you have to keep track of for your farm, so on. I think it's a classic but it could be expanded on more in future.

Again, I've said I would also like to see a spiritual successor to SimEarth be made.

Same goes for SimTower, too, but it's already being made, by same developer who brought 1849 to Steam and will be published by same publisher behind latest Tropico games. :)

SimTower, SimFarm, SimCity, The Sims, and SimEarth were among the Maxis games I played. I loved the concepts behind each of these games. Pity that three of them didn't get much traction beyond. Only SimTower got its sequel which was YootTower. SimCity and The Sims obviously did got their sequels.

I'd like to see more building/business/management simulations that SimCity, SimFarm and SimTower exemplified. SimEarth, though, would work for me, too. It seem to be an interesting concept.

agree 100% with you.

So much potential really omg its amazing!
I'm agree about potential but there is long way, I believe. In my game it was several boring species, almost same. They even mated each other in the end, if I remember correctly. Small map, no terraforming tools, no proper tools to watch population.

Hmm in this 0.9 version it doesnt happened, I could quite a lot of species at the same time and many others extinct.
About the terraforming I suggested it for the next version and still I have a problem with extrem lag when my life forms go over 700 and I have a powerful pc, even so I believe with some kind of funding this game might skyrocket.

I do so remember those days, remember "Sim Tower" and "Sim Copter", the old days are gone now.

Yes the sim games are classics not only in the sense of age but that they are very appealing concepts that could do well today, city skylines is an example. Its just that Maxis is owned by EA and Will Wright is no longer part of it.

Well, I think a new "Evolution: the Game of Intelligent Life" would be better than a new Sim-Earth.

If you don't know it, you can find info about it on the web. It is a rather obscure game, but it was really great. In a nutshell, it was a RTS-esque game where you lead some animals from Carboniferous amphybians up to late Quaternary period. The goal was to develop intelligent life by evolving your animals - but not necessarily as humans, as you could develop intelligency with other mammals (what about horse people?), birds, or even reptiles (dino ppl, plz). You had to juggle between feeding your species, defending against predators (or being the predators yourself) and evolving your creatures to later species, both real and fictional.

All while you did that, Earth (or whatever procedurally-generated world you inhabited) itself changed, with tectonic drift, climate change, mass extinction events and so on. For example, suddenly, your high-temp creatures have to face a global ice age and must migrate to survive - only to find another player (or AI) already inhabiting the world's equatorial region and had to fight to survive. Or in other game, one of your carnivore species suddenly run out of food as another player's herbivores die due to not reacting quickly enough to a plant change (and maybe 'cause your species' population got too big) and you must start to eat your own herbivores or they'll also become extinct.

I hadn't got as far as your post before I thought of Spore. I think that was the last game I bought myself from that company. They promised so much and delivered (expletive deleted).

I feel like a black sheep with Spore.

I liked it a lot.

But I never saw one iota of promises or marketing, I found out about the game after it was released, and had a lot of fun. I did not know any promises that were made.

Maybe the marketing and too open with the public ruined the game, so when people went in and hopes crushed, it ruined it?

I followed Spore from conception to production and it was your typical case of populism + money grubbing, based on the projected profits of DLC that was never made.
Typical EA boardroom mindset of the time.
Still it's an amusing dick around (pun intended) if you wan't to sketch stuff in a decent 3D editor assuming you can get around the game killing DRM.
