In-universe, this city is located on a square artificial island somewhere near Suriname. It is demographically similar to Suriname, with 40-60% of the population being of full or predominant Asian descent (Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian), about 30-40% being predominantly black or part black, and the rest being either too evenly mixed to classify or of European, Middle Eastern, and indigenous South American descent. The reason it's artificial is that the base map is a perfect square (although I have added in some canals and marshy areas) and in general Guyana and Suriname have a lot of marshy low-lying areas.

The historic center of the island is the city of Whalen's Dyke, a typical Dutch colonial town that is named after Kralendijk in Bonaire and is generally similar in style to the old towns of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Sint Maarten, and Paramaribo in Suriname:

There is a ruined anti-pirate fortification in the harbour.

Suburbs have sprung up just outside the old town.

Further south is the main planned town of Cima Pradera, developed in the 1990s and 2000s as a tourism and recreation hub. Cima follows a grid-breaking layout centered around a canal system.

Just south of Cima is the Turbini mall and hotel. One of the island's tallest buildings, it is built in a former warehouse that was the first airplane terminal in recorded history.

The views from the top are pretty expansive.

You can see a massive quarry just off to the left. It is disused, although attempts have been made to place rice paddies in it.

A bit further down the coast is the old main airport. It is a one-runway airport as the main airport is located off the map, just over the entry bridge (have to justify the connection requirements that the game imposes somehow), but is still the anchor for the city's hotel strip.

Old Main Airport is home to the largest and fanciest hotel strip on the island. It has been described as a mini Ipanema.

The far ("wrong") side of the island is less developed. It is largely wooded, and one can find many plantation manors there as well as a number of Buddhist temples that serve the large Chinese community.

There have been two major developments on the "Wrong Side", though. The larger is Lake Precious. Created by quarrying works that left massive 30-meter channels through the soil, Lake Precious is a relatively successful attempt to adapt Dutch and Danish grid urbanism to a landlocked Caribbean site.

The other is Saint Rose Village, an entertainment and nightlife-oriented open-air mall. It attracts a mixture of drunk Americans, Europeans, Chinese businessmen flying in from Brazil or Panama, and quite a few Colombians and Venezuelans.

There are also a number of villages as well as a small cargo port. Here's the village of Eunice:
