I thought the unlimited ai range was limited, apparently not as you can see in the pic:

Japanase (Or rather Thai navy, as you can see) ships near Bermuda. This is from freshly installed DD 1.2

The unlimited range is still there as the AI cannot rebase. What Lothos and team cleverly did was to tell the AI which sea zones they could and should be patrolling - giving the impression that they no longer have unlimited range.

If a sea zone gets missed out of those commands, then the AI will still send fleets there. You'll occasionally see the Thai fleet off the coast of Spain as a result of this.

Oh, does that mean that the AI has a now simulated limited range? This would be GREAT!

It's already there - if you've played a lot you'll notice that no longer does Japan patrol the Baltic Sea ;) It's just there are some nations and sea zones which have been missed/off. Not a problem really as those are usually ones which are very minor - like the Thai navy.

Yup, there are some about if you look for them. But mostly the AI programmers have got it spot on. The OP shows how successful they have been, if people believed that the AI now had a limited range :)

Its better than having a name like 胡扯先生.

Having unlimited range is cool because it means you dont have to keep on rebasing a fleet for it to get somewhere

Zebedee is right but if I missed some sea areas please email me which ones and for which country to shadowdm@comcast.net and I will fix it for next patch.

First: Godd work on the now limited range for AI!

Second: Do you need just the sea province or the region / area thing?

Good idea...

However, won't ships be able to keep patrolling in areas you've taken from them? IE, British ships will patrol around Japan, since they have Hong Kong... even after you take it?

Although, it's better than the ships just going everywhere. Nice work.

Lothos, overall I have to give a great deal of praise to you and the other programers for the amount of work you've all put into DD and the recent patches. I went out of town just after downloading the patch, and haven't had the chance to really play it yet. I did load up the 36 GC to make sure everything patched correctly, and was impressed with what I did see there.

There may be minor adjustments yet to be made, but we'll catch them in time, and I'm sure you and the developers will address them as you have in the past. :D

Again, thanks for the continued support that sets Paradox above and beyond the rest.
