England is strong enough, but their power is concentrated in the one area that does not matter: naval warfare. If navies are rebalanced and get a stronger influence on war, trade and colonies, then England will be balanced too

There is nothing interesting about England. They had just super navy and a lot of money. No one doesnt care about England because they just have paper soldiers. I was know English Empire was mighty than France but when we look at game i never saw that. Also in my multiplayer games we are just laughting them because everytime they just got stackwiped. In addition last patch mercs were nerfed and money is more than worthless now.

England is literally the most OP country in the game in multiplayer. I think this thread is being made in jest.
As someone trying to get into MP but has not had the chance, care to elaborate? I'd like to have reason to be afraid rather than just having a vague "They Stronk" idea.

England's navy can't be beaten, therefore any land england takes is locked in to the black hole of "england." If they take land in the spice islands it's now in the black hole of "england." If england colonizes it's "england'd." England wins any war by dropping infinite money on one side of the war, so nobody wants to piss off England. Trade companies gives england infinite states effectively, so they grow forever. Eventually england drops every building everywhere, and eventually affords to just sit on their full merc limit (which will be well over 200) and just throw money to infinite merc to anyone they want to.

France fighting Spain? Give me your colony or I'll give France 10k gold. Sweden fighting Denmark? England swoops in and takes the Danish capital and funnels lubeck trade in to England.

As for the army quality, they have 5% discipline which is basically enough to never get stack wiped, and enough to win battles where they out number their opponent, and alone is good enough to (in vanilla EU4) mop the floor with most any Asians. Malacca and their 0 army quality gets wrecked and loses their entire spice island empire. Japan can compete, but Japan will never match England's naval quality so eventually England will kick them off everything back to their Island.

I played once as a Tall England to get the Industrial Revolution achievement, I went colonizing, taking over everything from Greenland down to Panama, developed my islands like crazy, took economic and trade ideas etc. By 1700 I was the biggest great power in the world with basically infinite money and an army bigger than the Ottomans or any other nation in the world, and over 350 naval force limit. Once I got the achievement and started effortlessly eating France and Spain on the continent I got bored because I was basically unstoppable by that point. All without any territorial expansion sans conquering the British Isles and colonizing North America (and later some parts of Africa).

In terms of single player I see some games where England doesn't aggressively take the British Isles.
They probably need some weight to their focus on Ireland and Scotland. Also I feel France normally gets 1 province in southern England by the time England's within colonial range of the new world where the AI should aggressively put their amazing economy into running multiple colonies to build their power base. So maybe introduce something to reduce required colonial range needed. Maybe like the sea flow thing that Castile and Portugal benefit from near Brazil.

Lol, "English Empire mightier than France" :p I dont know where your information comes from but England was a regional power until late 17th century. In fact the Dutch dominated England also till that time. So the building up of the power started around 1700 and they surpassed France after the Napoleonic wars. And its "British Empire", not English.

I reply here because too often there is too much emphasis on how great the English were pre Napoleon when in fact that all started much more recent. Still, Richard the Lion-heart was a cool bloke of course :D I am not French btw. :)

They cannot be touched as long as they stick to their island. AFAIK England's navy in multiplayer was the main reason why the various CBs with the "blockade ports" wargoal were nerfed. Essentially they would blockade you and after a while you had to give up some stuff.
