As Germany I am going for Sealion but don't know the best peace to go for.

When I muller the UK is it best to Annex or Puppet?
I understand that Puppeting will give me more resources but what about IC?
Also, if I puppet, the UK will get tech teams, will they give me blueprints for free? I figure if thats right then I can ignoire researching naval techs too deep.

Lastly, what the heck are light carriers best used for?
I have a game as the US where I have gone fort naval-madness. I have got loads of cariers being produced for CTFs, and I assumed the light cariers would be best for joining ASW groups (becasue I figured if they went in CTFs i'd have to lose a carrier as oppose dto a screen) but they seem so slow compared to DD and CL, but my CL and DD are at a much higher tech. When CVL catch up in techs will they be useful for my ASW groups? or are thye just for minor navies who don't want to wait ages for naval air power?

The Uk won't accept peace terms. Sooo, it means waiting for the event to fire which usually happens just when you are about to occupy that last Pacific island for annexation...

Puppets give you blueprints. Not yet managed to puppet UK in DD so not sure which techs they will research and give to you (pretty certain that puppets just start with YOUR techs at the moment when you liberate them).

I use light carriers in ASW groups when playing a naval power. Research them to at least the same level as their escorts to see some real results.

Erm, you can try. Although they are unlikely to accept before annexation. Which means a trip to Africa to take out Belgium and a trip to the Pacific for the Netherlands. France has VP locations all over the map making it similar to Britain.

For the low countries it's easier to go with the event chain (which reduces partisan levels to 2% anyways). If you are really desperate for a puppet you could create Wallonia and/or Flanders. It's a 5% increase to your dissent for each one. I don't really bother with them any more. I create Scandinavia instead (Denmark + Sweden + Norway - don't bother adding Finland though).

Lots :)

But you have to create them - which means a 5% dissent hit for each one. Go to the liberate nation option in diplomacy and if you hover the cursor it should say which provinces will be given for each nation you can create. Just don't do it in the middle of Barbarossa with Ukraine and Russia - puppets can hamper your supply chain in nasty ways.

Scandinavia is my favourite to create. Denmark falls by event. Norway only has 2 VP locations so you can annex it. Declare war on Sweden and you only need 12 divisions or so to take the 4 (IIRC) VP locations within a fortnight of war with them starting.

If you're looking to puppet via peace terms, you're probably looking for someone in SE Europe - like Hungary or Romania or Greece or even Italy. I've noticed that if you declare war on other nations they tend to join the allies and seem less likely to accept 'puppet' peace terms.

Hi ! I'm in 1938 now and I still don't have any event for Denmark. UK is guaranteeing DK indepence so I'm reluctant to attack before Poland event fires.

When does the DK event occur ?

There is a semi-bug semi-exploit in an event series which means you can get extra blueprints.

Conquer France and get Vichy. Vichy inherits all French techs. Vichy normally releases a few colonies as puppets, including Syria.

Sometime in late 1940 you get an option to support the Syrian insurgency in Iraq (or similar). You can pick Yes, which allies you with Syria and brings them into the axis.

Syria has all of France's technologies, and being an alliance member, gives them all to you for free. You have about two weeks to ensure you've got them all before Syria is overwhelmed by British troops ;-)

I am sure this is an unintended consequence of a rather nice flavour event. :D

Annexed.

The only cores Germany starts with are Luxembourgh and Alsace-Lorraine (the French Maginot Line provinces)... and the only cores added by later events are Austria, Sudetenland and Bohemia (Czecheslovakia), Memel, Danzig and the Polish Corridor.

But the event that hands you over Denmark, doesn't it also make partisan levels go down to quite managable levels?

BTW, to create the puppet nation of "Scandinavia", you only have to additionallyconquer Swden to Norway, not Finland, too, right?

Is tehre any event to make war on Sweden, or do you have to manually delcare war on them?

Nope... it's do-it-yourself.

Great stuff thanks !

Only problem with going this routeis that you don't get Iceland or Greenland since according to that event theose get taken by UK.

Any suggestions about that ?

Annex Denmark before annexing Poland, then Greenland and Iceland will belong to you. Land ground forces there ASAP.

Note: if the UK captures all three provinces (Gothab, Reykjavik and Akureyri), they will be handed over to the US.

So I assume CVLs sueful in surface-convoy-raiding fleets?

Is there anywhere I can view the stats of a unit type before I get the tech?

Open up the editor and then go to models. Click on the model you want to view and it will give you a list of all stats.

CVLs are more useful for ASW work but I have to confess that for Germany, I'd rather research full blown CVs (due to Germany only having 1 effective naval tech team - Blohm and Voss having lost the last skill (technical efficiency?) this time round making it useless) so I haven't used them in the Kriegsmarine yet.
