I didn't get beyond 1943 either, but not really due to performance (though I often didn't touch production screen after 1942), but rather because the games were over at this point.
As USA, I steamrolled GER in 1941, as GER I steamrolled SOV in 1941 and USA in 1942, as ENG I wtfpwnd GER and ITA in 1942 - imo at this points there is nothing left to do. It would be like a cakewalk anyway...
