I do read them. I just don't know what to choose.
I would say the beginnings and the ends are pretty clear, the middle parts are the issue, right?
You have to decide on the terrain exploitation stuff, which you should do based on the amount of specific terrain features you have, combined with the ressources you need.
Check your current sectors they always have 2 terrain features like "fertile plains" and uhm... "Arcadia" (forsest...) etc.
All of them enable you to further level up your exploitation. fertile plains and forests have a food production level bonus, when you claim the sector and build a food exploitation on it you will have it on level 1. There are two upgrades for all food exploitations in the research tree (the ones with the green I and II ) with them you can get up to level 3 exploitation.
basic level 1 + 1 first improvement + 1 second improvement = level 3
thats were the rest comes into play, if you research fertile plains exploitation you can use it to get another level of food (and another ressource i do not know curently) if it is a forest you can exploit that with the other research for forests which means:
basic level 1 + 1 first improvement +1 second improvement +1 fertile plains exploitation +1 forest (or whatever it is called) exploitation = level 5 (max level) exploitation.
Choosing your Sectors wisely is paramount and depending on what you have, you must decide what you want to research.
In the same exapmple if it was a "habitable mountain" + "forest" (not sure if thats even legit but well.. ) feature you would have one food explotation through the forest but one feature that only enables (i believe, check it in game yourself) energy and production exploitation.
In this scenario you could only get a food exploitation at level 4, the mountain can not be used as a food explotation sector and brings no benefit, even if you researched mountain exploitation (as that can only improve energy and production sectors in this example.)
I find it very helpful personally to zoom out to max level, you can see the potential exploitation bonuses on the sectors there.
