Wrong siege success chance

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Displayed surrender chance is -7% while in tooltip it's actually 57% and from my experience that 57% chance is correct. I think this bug is due to engineering bonus not being included in displayed value

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1)Siege a province while having high siege engineering tech
2) Compare displayed surrender chance on map and on tooltip

The siege status also caps at 42% even though the tooltip can say it is higher. This is consistent in all games through all patches so much so that there is an arumba clip of him complaining.
It's at 12:40...can't link it properly.


Best I can tell the number on the map is based on siege-progress only disregarding all following numbers from generals 5+ or 10+, breached walls, siege engineers, fort level, non blockaded port etc. the tooltip gives the correct number. This explains why it is always capped at 42%. As long as the siege bonuses and deductions total 0 the siege number is correct. like a broken clock it is right some of the time.

The siege progress shown on the map has nothing to do with the fall chance. It's not even connected.
Please let me expalin:

When a siege tick ends the dice is rolled. All that matters now is the fall chance shown in the tooltip on your screeshot. Called "Surrender". 21% in your case.
Without inventions the fall chance will allways be 0% for the first few ticks, becauce you can not reach 20 with your dice at start.

What you see on the map is a whole other thing.
They just show some fixed values that increase every tick. I think -35 -27 -14 -7 0 11 and so on. This has nothing to do with the calculation of the siege. Just counting up every tick.

Also not very logic, becauce a chance can't be lower than 0. I guess this is done to show some progress to the player. If they would see the real chance (0%) for some ticks, they would think there is no progress going on and the siege is bugged. So they show progress even if it is not connected to a change of the fall chance. It's a scam ;-)

They use negative numbers first, assuming the fall cance will be 0% for a few ticks. But 200 Years later you have all the inventions and you can roll the 20 with the first tick. So if you get lucky the fort falls while the overall progress is still shown as -35%.

As all needed variables are already shown in the tooltip this would be easy to fix.

This way you would see how far you are from having a chance and when you have a chance you would see the correct number.
