It is the year 1503, i started in 1352.... so that's... 151 years of gameplay. The first 70 of which was watching grain fluctuations. As for better times for the Kongo... i can tell you that they are indeed on their way.

I was about to say, this doesn't qualify, but then I saw your last sentence. You almost got me.

But it's good to spread the word around as much as possible.

I Pull The Strings, But It's All Relative- A Kongo AAR

A Fruity Twist, How One Death Can Bring Great Peace;Part 2 Of 2

The Regency COuncil, composed of the best leaders in the whole of the Kongo, had come to power with the intention of restoring peace and tranquility to their nation. They were talented and open minded, drawing together all of their strengths to eliminate any of their weaknesses.

1TheRegencywasgood.jpg

Their first step in restoring the Kongo to teh peaceful nation it once was was to make it known that the religion practised in New Kongo was fully tolerated, instead of oppressed like Jose I and II had done. Th also began plans to convince their new brothers that their belief was superior; hence the reason for hiring the great shamanist Nuh Latnizana.

2Toleranceofrthepeople.jpg

Whilst the previou Jose's had used exploration as a method of fooling the public into believing that their rulers were all powerful the new regency had realised during Jose II's disastorous rule that the purpose for exploration had not been to discover the Dragons but rather to extend their own personal power. For the Regency the purpose, indeed the point for the Kongo's endeavours, had been corrupted. As such they decided to continue the Kongo's expansion, believing that they would eventually come across the Dragons. And when they did they would be ready to greet the Dragons in a worthy manner.

The Regency council also dispatched shamanists taught by the great Nuh Latnizana, to help bring their new brothers even closer to the Kongo.

4Shamists.jpg

They also established several new villages.

6Damaraland.jpg

The missionaries of Latnizana also brought mixed results, it seemed that some people had been more receptive to the Kongo's ideas of the world than others.

7Mixedresults.jpg

Several revolts erupted across the New Kongo, but Rallum quickly dealt with them. To help speed up the Kongo's recovery they hired a new advisor who specialised in stabalizing the nation; his name was Turakili Suja.

8RevoltsofRallum.jpg

The Regency also continued to explore and expand for the Kongo, their discoveries, which previously had led them further away from where the Dragons were speculated to dwell, now led them upwards; towards were the Dragons could be.

But the Regencys time finally came to an end, as they dutifully stepped dow nto allow the new ruler, Pedro I, to ascend to power. But they had taught him well, for he was a kind and caring ruler who promised to continue in the enlightened ways of the Regency who had put the Kongo back onto the true path; despite having so little time to do so.

And now for a look at what the enlightened Regency accomplished:

Greater expansion

And peace, finally, down from 16% to that; quite impressive.

Alas, for it would seem that all AAR's thrive on war and the possible destruction of a players work.... YAY!!!

As for your wish... well. I've played ahead quite substantially and let's just say that the next... maybe 5 segments or more will see more anarchy and warfare than the infamous Jose I...

Stay tuned for next time!!

I've never seen such a great regency council.

I don't know which I enjoy more, the new update, or this post. (I've put a trick of my own in this slightly modified quote. How long did it take you to find it?)

Thank you aHuman(oid),

The oppertunity to have a leadership which wasn't intent on driving my citizens to revolution was particuarly useful.

As for your slightly modified quote i have to admit that despite careful scrutiny and even copy and pasting the two together in my admittedly sad intrigue i cannot find your trick!!! Is it merely the link colour?!?! ALAS PRAY TELL!!!

It's not a even link. Not much of a trick, but it is something that won't easily be detected, as if it's slightly off, then that is just assumed to be part of the trick, and intentional. Copy-pasting doesn't work, as it removes the link from the post, and leaves only the text representing the link.

I win. :D :eek:o

CURSE YOU!!!! (INSERT ROLLING LAUGHTER SMILEY HERE; DAM VISTA!!!)

That was a productive Regency Council. I'm not sure the world is ready for a colonial Kongo....
(And the shamans are cool. You seem to haveplenty of money - were you storing it for 70 years?)

Best of luck and hope the dragons don't eat you. :)

I Pull The Strings, But It's All Relative- A Kongo AAR

Tribal Warfare; Part 1 Of an undetermined number:

Pedro I, after being tutored under the Regency council, had a different idea as to how the Kongo's future should be laid out. Under the Regency council he had learnt great skills for "public relations", but he had also seen how the Kongo could continue to expand through both war and peace; whilst still allowing the citizens of Kongo to live in contentment.

Plans as to how he could acheive such polocies were silently ticking away in his mind. The two other tribes whom the Kongo had yet to contact were those of Mail and Songhai. Each though was allied against the other and from what the Kongo's explorers had so far discerned was that Songhai covered a wide area whilst the Mali covered a lesser area; but Pedro had no way to know how far their territories stetched beyond that and so decided to leave the two tribes alone untill later. And there most definatly would be a later since they prevented the Kongo from moving freely up to where the Dragons were expected to dwell.

Interestingly though, Conquistador Youlou had in fact discovered a new tribe. Further away than before from the Kongo, but from what he had discerned so far this new tribe, calling itself Swahil, was small. Small enough he believed for the Kongo to easily conquer them.

1Theswahili.png

Pedro set in motion his plans to make the capture of such a tribe practical, being so far away the Kongo would need a village positioned close to enable brave warriors to be ferried back and forth.

2TheOutpost.jpg

It was at this time however, with the excitement of battle on the horizon, that the famed Conquistador Maloba Rallum was caught between two warring termite mounds and, caught between the two blind, sqirmy yet pointy and painful armies of button sized creatures, and was nibbled to death. It is said that he had a slice of kiwi fruit on him at the time...

3GoodbyeMrRallum.jpg

With the death of Rallum there was a need for another tribal leader to step up and take up the responsibilites of an entire warrior group; for in the run up to Pedro's anticipated war the Kongo had created two giant groups of warriors organised into groups, which were called, after much chin scratching, Kongolese Garrisons of Battle; or KGB for short. The new leader to rise up and assume control was also the Kongo's first general warrior, that is he is unspecialized in the art of weed slashing. His name; Alvaro Boussombo.

4GeneralWarrior.jpg

Pedro's atention was also focused howeve on the matters of his people. And it was after much hard work, thanks mostly to the Regency Council, that the area of "New Kongo" was dissolved as it's people were welcomed into THE KONGO.

5Welcomecitizens.jpg

6Newculture.jpg

7BonnyWeeLass.jpg

Pedro also established an additional encampment to accomodate both of his KGB's.

8Anadditionalencampment.jpg

And with these points of military rest, reserve and equiptment providing areas established (Pedro and his fellow warriors had yet to come up with a better name, although they were attracted to the word base) the road to the Kongo's next war was set.

9War.jpg

-----------------------------------------

Authors Note: I have to concede that the Kongos alternative for "units" the KGB was originally KWB (Kongo Warriors of Battle) But something about it nagged me as being familiar untill i finally remembered and decided to revise it. I am a hammer and sickle waving loon after all :)

Also, i have not specified how many parts there are to this section since i don't have the slightest clue as to where this labarynith of a war ends. Essentially it was complicated, unexpected and generally shocked me. EXCELLENT WRITING MATERIAL!

Merrick: Thankyou, The Regency was the best leadership i've ever had. As for a colonial Kongo... well, i wouldn't say that the Kongo was colonial... although if the option for the Kongo to go across to South America arises..... would be interesting eh?

And yes i was storing the money for many years, i had minting at 0 and infaltion at 0. Something for which i am grateful or else colonisation would have been impossible. The fees required to train a man to peer over bushes and hack through weeds is amazing!

Must be in a union. Good work. This is a fun read.

I Pull The Strings, But It's All Relative- A Kongo AAR

Tribal Warfare; Part 2 Of an undetermined number:

The Kongo was ready. Ready to leap head first into the unknown for a war which wasn't actually leading them closer to the Dragons. Ratherit was a war which was only intended to make the Kongo more powerful. But Dragon's or no Dragons the people were happy and so cheered as the troop smarched off into the mist.

But the first casualty of the war was, strangely enough, not actually a warrior. Rather it was an advisor who was attacked by a Swahili warror who had hid himself in a prize winning mango and leaped out of it at the oppertune moment shouting out the African equivilant of "boo!".

1Unexpectedwarfare.jpg

It became ubundantly clear that the Swahili were prepared to engage in more tactical forms of warfare; although Pedro's advisors panicked over what this sneaky form of warfare would do to them Pedro calmed them all saying, "They may kill everyone of my advosors, attack our fruit merchants, and hand out politically incorect leaflets to stir up trouble amongst our people but by no means will that stop 9000 hyper active warriors from seizing every village from here to... wherever their lands stop." Wise words from a wise yet vocabulary constrained leader. And with this he sat down and tried to come up with a name for this sneaky type of attack.

Whilst Pedro pondered upon a new word for the Kongo's language, his conquistador and general warrior were making swift progress across the Swahili's tribal lands.

2swiftprogress.jpg

Along the way, as the Kongo's troops dashed across the lands they had discovered whilst the Swahili poured from the mist, they won many battles. And it was soon that the Swahili sent a messager to the General Warrior Alvaro Boussombo asking for peace.

3peaceplease.jpg

He would have explained to the Swahili that a negotiation between him and Pedro to secure the Swahili's peace would take many trips backwards and forwards between the two nations and so not only take an insanely long time but also greatly disconvenience him. He would have explained this to them, but due to language differences it was easier to just say "No".

The two KGB groups led by Boussombo and Youlou pressed ahead untill they had uncovered what they believed was the majority of the Swahili's territory.

4progress.jpg

However, just when the Kongo seemed to have the upperhand it became clear that they were stretched too thinly across the lands. Outmaneuvered as small groups of warriors slipped past them they quickly lost their grip on the Swahili's lands.

5Losingit.jpg

Realising that they wouldn't be albe to retake the lands without a significant rethink in their strategy Boussombo and Youlou retreated and entrenched themselves in two tribal lands which stood aside the passage to the wilderness and from there the Kongo. They would wait there, they decided, untill reinforcements arrived. And then they would hopefully enough troops to set into motion what they hoped to be their final strike.

6safetynet.jpg

To lead this new Kongolese Garrisons of Battle the son of the legendary and now deceased Maloba Rallum stood up to lead the new freshly trained warriors into battle. Pedro said to him, "Mpemba Rallum. You have inherited your fathers skill's with the wielding of a pointed stick, you are smart, loyal and will undoubtably lead our toops into battle and emerge victorious. But for reasons unknown i have decided to take control of your unit myself and march across some of the most dangerous wild land ever encountered. I bid you far well!".

And with that he died at the hands of a particuarly lethal tiger with the words, "Whoops, i got the wrong leader" On his dieing lips.

7Alvaro2.jpg

As such, Alvaro II, Pedro's son. Arose to the throne. He was hounourable, devoted and kind. And swore to see the Kongo to the end of this was and beyond. Unfortunatly he was more or less an idiot much to the people's irritation.

Nonetheless, he made sure that the regiment his father had led made it to the Swahili's lands and establish a fortified location which his father had decided to call a "base" in his private diary. And so the new regiment saw the defeat of a Swahili battle group and successfully established themselves in a prime position to launch the second offensive...

It was only around three days since the last one, not that long.

Good update.

A lesson that is always wise to remember, when you decide to irritate people with pointy implements and the mentality to use them. :)

Another great update. In fact, I liked it so much that I've nominated this AAR for the Weekly Showcase.

Congratulations, Proffessor EGADD!
