I paid $20 USD just so I could upgrade my fleets

Seriously, I'm really not sure what else Art of War does. Okay, I know there's fleet mothballing and some sort of army template thing which are nice, but not overly compelling for me. And it has "other stuff" that does little to grab me.

The ONLY reason that I was motivated to pick up Art of War yesterday is due to the micromanagement of trying to keep a 500+ ship fleet current that I experienced as Castile/Spain, and wanting to avoid that at all costs going forward. Initially I liked that I was forced to "decommission" the old, and build new. But it's just too big a time sink once you have a large fleet.

And even though this feature alone isn't worth $20, since I managed to get most everything else at 80% of a while back... I was happy to throw some extra money at Paradox. I also added some brilliant metal music and another unit pack that I was missing.

I am so loving EUIV. I hope Paradox never stops making such amazing grand strategy games!

The HRE 30 year war, more provinces and the little extras almost make it worth the $20 DLC. I honestly think it's worth $15 but that's potentially because I'm cheap and when a game with all its' DLC becomes $100+ I'm not a fan. Wrong forum anyways.

I lucked out seeing the 80% off sale, getting $100 worth of EUIV for $20. I bought it and forgot about it as I was using all of my game time to play Wasteland 2.

But EUIV was first on my list when I wrapped that up.

Yeah, that's the thing about a Paradox game. You have to spend a few days to figure out what the hell you're doing. The time investment is always worth it, but I always feel like I need to "go to training" before I really start playing one of these games. Because I hate getting 200 years in only to realize that I totally screwed everything up.

Youtube Let's Plays FTW in that regard.

I strongly feel that those options should have been in the free patch. I wrote about it before AoW was released but no one from Paradox responded.

These options...

- Added the possibility to upgrade fleets in one click if you can afford it

- Implemented a new Unit Builder, where you can build entire new armies or fleets in one click

... really should've been included in the free patch. They don't offer additional game play options or new content, they just decrease the amount of clicking. It's really sad that it looks like those Facebook games, where you have a choice to play a free version which involves constant needless clicking or pay and get the option to do exactly the same with one click.

I urge you to reconsider this. One of the main points when you guys decided to switch to DLC was that players get more options to pick the content they want, instead of it being forced upon them in a few large expansions. I hate with a passion the amount of needless clicking when creating new armies and upgrading/building new fleets, and was extremely happy about those changes, but now I have to pay for increased functionality and get with the content I may potentially not like or not wanna buy?

This is very, very bad business practice, having to pay to reduce the amount of clicking.

Whatever they are, I'm sure SOMEONE will feel strongly that they should/should've been included in the free patch.

SOMEONE will complain about giving medicine to a sick child. It's not a valid counter argument.

I have absolutely no problems with the rest, or with how free goodies/paid goodies were handled previously, but this is really pay to reduce amount of clicking.
