I have started a game as Chawda and I currently have Gavelkind as the current law with a unempowered council . I played it before Conclave and don't recall all the additional components regards choosing Primo/Ultra inheritance laws .

I have all positive vassals and am nearing the end of a particular ruler and would like to know if I choose Elective Gavelkind and select a heir the normal Jain way do they inherit all titles or is it still split up amongst relevant heirs ?

If not what can I do to ensure a complete inheritance to a single heir or can anyone point me to a site that explains it post Conclave .

Elective Monarchy for feudal. If you want Primo or Ulti you will need late feudal.

Not sure about indian succession but don't Jains get to designate their successor? I recall one of those three religions allowed that.

I tend to destroy titles that would split my kingdom/duchie in two when I got stuck with gavelkind.
Elective Gav. only determines the heir, but the realm would still split.

Another way to work around would be to get rid of some pretenders/Sons in some way So you only have ONE heir that then would inherit all titles.
Havent played Jain so far, so I am not sure about the possibilities.

With Primo you likely end up with a middle-aged heir and mediocre traits that you cant do much about due to the already "high" age.
And with Ultimogeniture you likely end up with a 1 year old kid that is stuck under a regent for a long time and very weak against plots.

Allthough I prefer Ultimogeniture because you can actually choose who you want to enherit your realm.
You just have to divorce your wife after you get a genius/quick/strong-kid and marry some old hag with good traits and depleted fertility.

Sorry, I probably went a bit off-topic there.

Personally prefer Ulti as well for the same reasons, although it's not quite as useful for Catholics or anyone else with a religious head.

Absolutely wonderful for an Orthodox king or emperor.

Avoi elective Gavelkind like the plague. It's going to be like normal Gavelkindm, except you have no control over the primary heir and secondary heirs can become independent on succession.

Neither Elective Gavelkind nor choosing an heir will prevent your demesne from splitting. Both simply have the potential to have a primary heir other than your eldest son.

The only way to ensure everything goes to single heir is to have only one son. Or if you have no sons, to only have one daughter. Or if you have no children to only have one brother. You get the idea.

The way getting Primogeniture or Ultimogeniture works in Conclave is that you need to have either Late Feudal Administration or Imperial Administration (scroll down in laws menu). Late Feudal Administration requires you to have Legalism 3 technology. Once you've done that you can switch to those titles normally.

Thanks . I just looked through it and your right . I need level 3 Legal to initiate the change . That is a shame ..... for my other sons :) Time to do a quick round up and give the executioner something to do . Looks like the only way until I get my technology advanced .

What you can do in the future is marry a woman over 45 with good stats and use concubines to get children. Then as soon as you get a son, set all the concubines aside.

Another method that is somewhat popular is to have infertile wife and use seduction focus to produce lots of bastards, then legitimize the one that turns out the best.

In both cases a workable alternative to an infertile wife is a wife locked up in prison.

Having multiple concubines is risky if you use this strategy, though. Sometimes 2 of them are pregnant at the same time, and you can't set one aside while she's pregnant, so if the first one to give birth has a son, you run the risk of the other having a son as well.

Good point. So one concubine is the way to go if you want to be safe.

IMO the seduction route is better though as you have lots of spare heirs that you can legitemize in case anything happens to your chosen successor.
