I don't mind this avatar but would like my old one back. The ability to put a picture on a forum to signify a person is not hard.

Well Paradox uses it as another motivating thing to get you to register, With newer games mods locked behind a proof of ownership, it definitely has some success, even if paradox games are so liked even the mods get pirated.

While I miss individual Avatars...I can't understand why I'm not getting my Beta Backer icon, and other icons for Battletech.

Is it a small and useless thing the Icons? Sure, they do mean nothing, but to me they mean something.

To have mine show up, I had to sync my Paradox Account to my Steam Account.

To do this, I went to "Edit Account" at the top right of the page. Once the page loaded, I selected "Settings" from the above bar. From there you should see the option to sync the account with your Steam Account.

Once sync'd it should show up. If it doesn't (or you have already Sync'd the account and it doesn't show up), try this...
Mouse over your account name at the upper right corner of the forum. Once an automatic drop-down lowers with your forum account options, select "Owned Items". Once in there, there should be an option to "Sync Owneditems". Try selecting that and see if the icons appear. Be mindful it might take a small while.

Hope that helps.

P.S. I just noticed you have a Stellaris Icon, so I am guessing your Steam account is already sync'd. In that case, I think the second option is probably what you need to try.

They're showing just fine to me:

Was the kind of thing that makes one go...am I an idiot or something...am I missing something so obvious?

I think it's just a matter of time for the database to process. My guess is the servers perform a lot of simultaneous tasks, and if they processed certain tasks more quickly (higher priority) it would impact other services. So, it's "in the works". Everyone will eventually get the badges they're supposed to have.

Closing all windows and logging out of the last window before closing it, then waiting a minute and logging back in is what worked for me a few minutes ago. It's possible there's a form of front or back end refresh that is also in play. So we might have our badges "available" but we don't "see" it because we need to perform that refresh. This might also affect different browsers in different ways as they tend to handle page element refreshing differently (different stale content refresh timings).

For the technically inclined, yes I know they might be able to add more instances/processing power through cloud services (I don't know their their back-end configuration) but that also adds more cost and the time/supervision to both approve and implement it. Balance in everything so we can all stay the course. A good lesson too for managing our mercenary outfit once the game drops :p

That being said. I miss our unique avatars too.

yes the servers are busy now. Yes the Servers will always be busy. But hopefully Paradox bought big on servers & we won't a DIablo 3 issue.

Generally services like this experience temporary spikes in activity for certain processes that don't require long term upgrades. Those processes have processor and/or memory caps assigned so they don't greatly affect the performance for the rest of the service. If the process is critical, usually the capacity/processing power can be upgraded on an as-needed basis but it costs more $. Or the cap can be increased on how much processing power or memory they can use to complete their task, but that can have an impact on the rest of the service. If they're not critical, then they're usually allowed to complete their task at their given pace. Much like transferring an extremely large amount of data over shared bandwidth. It'll take time, and the wait can be a little frustrating, but at least you and your family can still watch different Netflix or Youtube vids or whatever while the job completes. :D

Besides, think just how many people have been flooding the system with these requests since the transfer on Tuesday?
If I were the server I'd had broken off for a cuppa a long time ago ;)

Yea, I've tried linking steam, hitting sync often, logging in & out often. Just appears to be a slow process. I don't think it's reached Beta level for adding more than one badge and is still finishing Valhalla. :skull:
