Decided to start a game as an Emir of Jerusalem in 867. I easily took the land of my neighbors and eventually created the custom Kingdom of Jerusalem. After breaking free from the Caliphate I ended up joining Byzantium. Now Orthodox Christian I created the Kingdom of Jerusalem again, though now in titular form.
TwoJeru.jpg

Jerusalem became a great and powerful state, a kingdom twice over! We helped push Byzantium right up to Rome's doorstep. Famed as the holy land, but now also as a secular powerhouse. I was recently voted Emperor and am glad to see my children and family are not even being considered for the next Emperor. I'm doing a good job as Emperor, but it's not a position I want to keep.
I don't know what to do with these two Jerusalems though. I was thinking of trying to spearhead a war into Andalusia but don't know how long I can maintain these two kingdoms.

The titular kingdom has no de-jure vassals, so it should be fine enough to destroy right? Nobody should get upset. Although, if I do this, does that mean the Catholic world will see Jerusalem as a vacant kingdom?

Which one should I destroy? Should I try to keep holding on to both?

Catholicism will not declare a crusade against the Orthodox Church, as such you should be fine deleting the title, however there is little point in doing so. Unless you are worried about your children trying to conquer it from each other after your death you should keep it. Titular kingdoms will eventually inherit duchies so long as you control the whole duchy for a century, plus its free prestige (they I am certainly at a loss at what to do with the stuff myself when i don't play as a tribal or a horde).

I'm not sure what you mean by which you should destroy but i'm guessing you mean the titular title or the legit kingdom title? Do the kingdom title, if iirc vassals can only join factions against you if they are de jure vassals.

I was worried about the laws for the 2 kingdoms switching and then causing some sort of mess. Two different kids with King of Jerusalem titles, or one leaving the family.

As for destroying the kingdom title, that's a great idea. I was thinking of destroying the titular one because it has no de-jure vassals so I wouldn't be upsetting anyone. Better idea to keep the titular one as then I won't have the factions like you mentioned. That seems almost to good to be true...is it to good to be true?

I belive that the duchies in Jerusalem will eventually become de jure part of the titular kingdom if you dont lose a county in a duchy (will only stop progress for that specific duchy) or if you dont lose the kingdom. A way to avoid that is to create a different kingdom though.
Not sure if being part of the Byzzies already stops the de jure drift though.

Hmm, I feel like I've read somewhere before that Jerusalem land is unique and that titles in the area don't drift.

Speaking of the Byzzies though. After my current ruler dies another dynasty will take over. Sad the duchy of Capua won't be staying in my demesne after i go back to just being a king. I'd like for Byzantium to fall apart, but it's doing so well right now, especially with the years I've put into it. Any idea's how I could set the place off for meltdown before I lose the Emperor seat? I don't want to just simply grant independence to lords, if I can even do that. I'd like it to happen more naturally. I've been handing out regular duchies to the former vice-roys hoping that'll give them more strength to cause mayhem for the next guy.

Kingdoms holding the entire of any duchy whether a vassal or not will cause de-jure drift.

Correct. Jerusalemite duchies will not De-jure drift into other kingdoms, though k_jerusalem will into empires.

Difficult. You need independence wars and ambitious enemies for the empire. Religious and cultural deviants in the empire might help.
However this gameis not designed to model the decline of the ERE. It can model several lightning fast invasions which destroy it though, which really doesn't help.

Maybe heresy is the way to go. i think there are some Paulicians somewhere in the empire. I believe i have religious revokation law so I could go a little crazy and start replacing the lords with Paulicians. Ruler is in his mid-50's, if i could turn heretical, I'd probably keep my kids orthodox, let them stay out of the mess once he dies.

Kingdoms, I'll create heretic kingdoms within the empire.

Was hoping this was Trump related.

*Sigh*

...Am I the only one who's sick of the Trump jokes? Particularly the whole 'Make Whatever Great Again' and 'Build a Wall' memes. The man is not the centre of the world, people! There are other, better, fresher political memes!*

*Probably.

I think I've found my new wife.
Dorothea.jpg

There seems to be a healthy population of Paulicians and Bogomils around, even though there's only a single Paulician county in Muslim hands. My wife died recently and was planning staying single afterwards until I met this silver fox. Just the kind of lady I need to teach me about Paul. Former Empress of a short lived Monothelite Emperor and currently hanging out with my half-brother and the knights. It was that sweet sweet voice of Satan that truly wooed me.
Iconoclasm was impressive, but now, Basileus Daniel leads! SWORDS FOR EVERYONE!

Edit: Damn, that didn't give me the option to convert. How else can I get to being a Paulician? Their only county is currently unattainable.

She drools a little. That may be do to a mod called Better Looking Garbs but I could be wrong.

Meh, I'd still give her a good tumble.
Basileus Danial sure knows how to pick them!
I had to cut her loose unfortunately. Ended up with some high diplo chick. I'm about to piss some people off.

That's what I went for as my two sons grew up, but it never came. I really have to set things into motion now so I decided to just invite the Paulician courtiers to my court and then give them none vice-roy titles. I have a few lords in prison who's titles I can snatch away and give to these new folk. I think it's also time there were a couple of Paulcian kings too. Greece and Armenia will be created. Maybe Sicily too.
