Hi, i am finaly ready to start a new round of coop gaming in Stellaris. I have all DLCs but not overlord and Nemesis, but i am not sure if i should buy them. Its not because of the question if they are worth the money, but more if i want some of things that can happen in my games.

I've read that with overlord there is too much of vassalling going on in the galaxy, and in memesis Espionage feature seems more an annoying addition where you need to hassle around with, instead of some fun things.

I want a more vibrant world where some sort of story onfolds, with dome federations and so on. I do not want the the galaxy is devided betweed 3 overlords, because AI likes it too much to get vassalized.

So what do you think is best for someone who has not played since 1,5 years, to get the most virbrant Galaxy possible?

You definitly will want Nemesis! Not for the espionage stuff, but for that fun little ascension perk it adds. You haven't lifed becore you blew up your 1st galaxy (or frenetically scrambled to prevent it from happening...)

If you already have every other expansion, I highly suggest you buy both. All the DLC work best when their mechanics get to bounce off one another.

If you don't have every other expansion, I would just go for Overlord.

While vassalage became much more common when Overlord released, this was caused by updates to the base game and not by the DLC itself, and should be less of an issue now after some changes in 3.5. Having the DLC shouldn't make the AI more likely to become subjects than it already is.

The espionage mechanic in Nemesis is actually entirely ignorable if you don't want to use it. It suffers from a lack of notifications that tell you when things come off cooldown, but is otherwise a decent way to convert surplus envoys and influence into intel and research.

Both of these DLCs add ways to spend large amounts of influence in the midgame once you've finished building starbases, Overlord with Hyper Relays and Orbital Rings and Nemesis with Espionage.

Do you have any preferences on the style of empire you want to play?

HI, thx for your answer. I like Psi and Synth Ascending. I like to tech fast. I do not want do rule them all in most cases, but the overlord playstile looks funny too. But it would not be funny if its to easy to vassal the AI.

For a vibrant galaxy, consider getting all the species packs.

You'll get some really nice models and artwork, especially the more recent ones.
