Let me rephrase that. I love to hate it. My new Emperor decided to conquer a troublesome duke and strip him of his titles (I personally like to replace as many of my Dukes with Doges as possible). I hadn't really paid any attention to the various factions for a few years, and I was ignoring the faction alert since it was always up there.
Of course, bam, I get a faction demand to abdicate in favor of my uncle (who, by the way, is a very nice guy, I felt bad that they wanted to rope him into all this). Of course, I refuse, and most of my dukes are now in rebellion (about 1/3 of my Empire). I'm ignoring pretty much all of them, going after the faction leader only, just as I would in previous versions.
Three things happen in quick succession after I start sieging said leader's territory. First, my doges decide they want to be independent. Second, my half brother, king of Croatia and Hungary, decides he wants to be Byzantine Emperor, too. Third, I realize that totally occupying the faction leader's territory does not, in fact, give me enough war score to win the revolt. Oops. There goes all the men I threw away in assaults, for a measly 20% warscore.
Anyway, I think its great; I hadn't had a challenge in awhile, so, its good to have to better maintain the internal politics of your realm like this.
