How backwards can you be?God... Steam is hundred times better for MP than how it is now.
Not for me, I can host perfectly fine.
And again, what I want is just to have option to MP without Steamworks.

Well you shall not. Better learn to deal with it.
Yep, but it's still sad that we don't have more options for MP. Even LAN play seems to be not there.
Reading compherension isn't too big I see.
They still need to run Steamsoftware. This feels like people going "I hate windows, how do i run Eu4 without windows?".
Yes, and what does that have to do with LAN ?
Ok, I just want to clarify: Can you play LAN Multiplayer without connection to Steam or Internet?

I've been using Steam since it launched and have no major complaints. I don't get why so many people hate it. It has it's flaws for sure, but for multiplayer gaming it's a solid platform and sounds like a huge step up from EU3 multiplayer.

I noticed this too. Being rude to customers is the worst thing ever for 'official'.Is this a new PR thing? Trying to be rude?
Not everyone has a broadband connection for internet but everyone has a private network. I am on a ship with a very limited internet connection and there is this german engineer in the next cabin who also plays EU3. If the game uses pure internet multiplayer I won't be able to play with him, if we get real LAN then we could do so. Problem is that suddenly all publishers and developers seem to have forgotten what LAN means, at least they pretend so
There are other people in similar situations.. Internet coverage in your area might be solid, but that's not given to everyone on earth.
Seems pretty clear the answer to the LAN question (meaning disconnected from the internet and LAN only) is "No". Maybe this concerns some people because they are worried about performance, but this concern may be based on how the prior network code ran. I think they are using new network code that is standardized for Steam, which likely means it will perform much better. There are many games using Steam's network code that perform very well so I think I would sit tight on those concerns until you've had a chance to see it in action.No. EU4 MP will not be playable without Steam.
I understand...clearly those kinds of scenarios still exist where LAN-only comes in handy, but I'm afraid you're right about where the industry is going. Luckily single player will still work in your situation which is more than can be said about a lot of games these days. I hope in the end there's a solution for you on the multiplayer too.Not everyone has a broadband connection for internet but everyone has a private network. It's not clear to me. I think the answer is, in fact, "Yes."Seems pretty clear the answer to the LAN question (meaning disconnected from the internet and LAN only) is "No".
