I launch the game but not even the launcher shows up

Hello. I've just got Stellaris and I've encountered a few issues. First of all, I had some missing .dll files (which also happened with CK2) and I figured that might be because I have recently reinstalled Windows. I managed to fix the .dll issues just to come across 0xc000007b error which apparently was related to a compatibility issue between 32bit and 64bit files. I did eventually fix that using dependency walker and now I don't get any more errors when I try to launch. Problem is that when I start the game I get something in my task bar (like an icon, but the icon is actually missing), something in a shape of a Paradox Launcher SOMETIMES pops up on my screen but it's completely blacked out (other times it doesn't pop up at all) and then it closes automatically. I launched with Task Manager open and yup, I was right. Stellaris appears for a brief moment in the task manager then it disappears. Help is much appreciated.

EDIT: Oh and by the way, I did play Stellaris some time before reinstalling Windows and it worked like a charm. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64bit.

Could be one of those "really simple" requirements like the old DX9 standalone from June 2010.
It is such a common requriement, steam downloads and isntalls it as a mater of standart operating procedure. Stellaris is no exception however, so if it requires that (propably), it should have been isntalled.

A look into the logs might help, It is in your userprofile under \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\logs.

I installed the DirectX 9 June 2010 thing while trying to fix my 0xc000007b error.

Looks to me like it's not detecting a graphics card. I assume you have one and have updated its drivers? It could be a case of your video card not being supported, but that should be very rare.

I have an integrated video card, Intel HD3000. But I don't think that's a problem considering that I ran Stellaris on this exact same machine not even a year ago? No hardware upgrades were made in the meantime.

Besides, I can run CK2, EU4 relatively smoothly and even HOI4 if I turn off a few things.

Quick update, I tried a sfc /scannow as I thought that would help but the result was "no integrity violations".

Try downloading the latest driver for your graphics card. Since it's an integrated card, it should be on the laptop manufacturer's website.
When you reinstalled Windows, it likely ended up with the version of the driver the computer originally shipped with.

I entered the device manager and I tried to update the graphics driver using the "check automatically for a newer version" or something similar and it said my graphics driver was up to date and no newer version could be found.

That is frequently inaccurate, especially with integrated graphics. You need to find the graphics card model and look for its drivers online.

Alright, I will try that tomorrow as I'm away from my laptop now. Problem is there seems to be no Windows 10 version. Do I use the Windows 8 one?

drivers are not frequently OS dependent IIRC.

Usually Windows 8 drivers will work on Windows 10. I think the last version of Windows that broke a lot of driver compatibility was Windows Vista, which also happens to be the last major kernel update. (Yes, Windows 10 is still running the Windows 6 kernel)
