That's certainly welcome news. My UK-capable credit card is armed and ready (I live in the US). A key piece of info missing from the press release is an expected date (you didn't really think no one would ask that, did you?). Any ideas, or is it too early in the deal to know? Also, where does one buy a comupter game in the UK from the US?

Yes, but Patric wrote ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) Q1 2002 in the announcment, so March 2001.
The contract was signed today and unfortunately I can't give you a more accurate release date than Q1 2001. I would guess January or February but that is just a guess, not a promise.

Originally, yes. But we've made some changes to the code so we don't have to make any translations or new graphics at all now, just to speed up the process.
We've disabled all graphics and language specific texts plus the AI just to be able for such a fast release in UK.
Seriously, the game was developed in English and that language version was the first to be finished. Now it's just the production of the CDs, boxes and manuals that will take some time, plus the work of the distributor to actually get orders for the game.

Very good news indeed. Let's hope Paradox will succeed in attracting more of the press attention than Blackstar managed to do in Germany.
For your info: just did a little research on Koch Media.
They are an Austrian firm with subsidiaries in Germany and the UK ( www.kochmedia.com )
Their website in English is 'under construction' , except for the searchable dealer-list. It seems they have a pretty good coverage of dealers throughout the UK, but (if I'm not mistaken) none of the big retailers in the market.
It seems they haven't got an online shop ready yet; even the german part of their site offers just a phone number for ordering.
The English 'under construction' part claims it will be up in september (probably 2000)!
Well anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed.

So what happned to a UK release being contingent upon a USA publisher? Don't get me wrong, English is English (more or less) so I'll be thrilled to get my grubby paws on this but does this say something about a USA publishing deal not going down smoothly?
I almost ordered the game in German yesterday. Had the form filled out and ready to send. Decided to wait a while longer.

I was in the exact same situation.
But now with this great news, it seems i willn't need to take German lessons after all.
As for the site, having undertaken some reseach too. I found this address for Koch international: http://kochint.com/index.htm
