Just got home, stared at my mail - and couldn't believe it. This nice folks from Black Star sent me my copy of EU. Can't talk any longer. Must install. Must play. I will tell you how it feels later this day - or let's say somewhen tomorrow ...

boy am i glad this game doesnt have a US publisher yet. crossed my fingers for a January 2001 release date when I'll be done with my thesis and all.

Yes only joking.....but a least the german would have sorted out my train and got it running on time today. Then again here in australia we could have been waiting for the Japanese version which I haven't even heard of yet......

On the other hand, you wouldn't have a lot of time to play CG's (if there would have been such a thing) as you would have been forced to exercise each weekend with your local Obersturmbahnführer (or whatever that's called in Japanese)
Besides, in EU I fully intend to solve the problem of a possible german threat forever

Obersturmbahnführer= translated into lieutenant colonel. that is a waffen-ss rank the heer rank would be oberstleutnant. Obersturmbahnführer was my old nick on the SuSt forum. it is after the SS rank of Sturmbannfuhrer and before the rank of standartenfuhrer.

You really do like long names (titles don't you), but I hope it's ok to shorten you a bit 'cause typing Generalfeldmarschall becomes a bit tough after a while. I hope General* will do, it's much shorter and has a nice touch to it

All the talk of translations on these forums seemed to meet with positive responses.

Even if you do get the files de-compiled and translated, and you probably will, the manual is still an issue. I’ll just hope that the game is released here soon.

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong, but considering the other uncertainties, I decided to decline.

Well, German victory never really entailed the conquest of Australia, the US, or even Britain. They simply didn't have the naval power to hope for that. They would have kept Poland, western USSR, Austria, and Sudetanland as part of Germany and the rest of the continent would be puppet states. Britain, Australia, US, etc. would all still be free. There still would have been a Cold War, except in this scenario it would have been between the US and Greater Germany. (There is an interesting book about this scenario that I have read.) So I guess we were just doomed not to get Europa Unversalis this year
