So I am playing USSR in the Grand Campaign, on the 29th of November I get the "rogue poltiican" event or soemthing, isnetad of ignoring, I choose "Go to hell" (or whatever, I am playing the German version), so that the politican is no longer available.

The poltician in question was Stalin.

I saved the game and will have to go celebrating this, I was about to move my governemnt sliders to Lenist and beyond just to get rid of Stalin and his ilk. Now I may instead mvoe my sldiers to "Standing Army". I do not rememebr Stalin's stats, but at the very least in his position other than head of governemnt he sucked. Now Germany is going to be up the creek...

Good for you. Stalin has a -5% IC, which is really bad. Then he has some boni to not getting couped, not that useful when you would actually like him gone...
A lenist gov as the USSR is much more useful. You'll still be able to use the good stalinist ministers (IIRC), and there are a couple of those.

I assassinated Stalin in my game, which backfired, as he was replaced by Molotov, who's a +5% IC "Silent Workhorse."

But Molotov himself can be killed. :) The Soviets then replaced him with the more acceptable (to MI6) Beria, who's a -5% IC, but good at coups....

I'm curious whether the USSR will act on that potential, as besides Beria, they've got another one or two guys in the cabinet who makes coups cheaper and/or easier.

Doesn't seem like the AI manages the intelligence game very effectively, though....

Yeah, it is possible for this to happend. I had that event as well that gave me the opertunity to have Stalin "Drop dead"... only I chose not to have him removed, but it was still a funny thing.

Wonder if the same could happend to Hitler?

Yes it can happen to Hitler, it happened to me before, and Goring took his place.

Is it even possible to replace Stalin as head of government? I've gotten the Soviet Union as far as Left Wing Radical before and haven't ever been able to replace Stalin or the starting head of state (forget his name right now). I know there are other heads of government available and I'm pretty sure other heads of state too since I've looked in the minister file. I'm playing the '36 Scenario.

I quit that game later on, will have to restart later with Stalin out in 1937, luckily I got myself a savegame.

Problem is, the Czechs choose to fight, Germany got in war with them, the alleis and Poland, won ine the east, and I got the event "Germany invades Poland without our blessing". I choose to go to war with Germany.
Problem is, going to war with germany didn't cancel my non-agression treaty with them! I could fight their allies but not germany directly. In one weird incident, one of my forces occupied the same provicne as a German army, I got every hour the message that I lost that province.

I cancelled the non-agresison treaty and quit after I was unable to seal of the German drive to Moscow, I was just one provicne away, but alas, Tuchkesky couldn't take that one anymore.

I started a new same as SU, I again got that criminal poltician event, but this time it wasn't Stalin. Appears to me that you cannot get rid of him except for that freak change of Stalin being the criminla poltiican in that event.

Yes I did get Molotov as new head of government it was sweat.

You know, if you don't do the Great Purge and eat the 30 dissent hit, you should at leats get relieved of Stalin, don't you agree?

How do I have to tweak that even that it replaces Stalin with Molotov?

As long as you stay within the left-wing portion of the political spectrum, chances are that Stalin will stay. If you move to the right from there, he is replaced by Yezhov and/or Kerensky (at least in 1.3, if I am not mistaken). You cannot change your SOV tag to RUS (unless you are couped), though, so it's theoretically possible to have a Russia and a Soviet Union fighting it out with both having Kerensky for a minister...

It's commonplace for Nationalist China to be fighting warlords while sharing ministers and generals with the enemy.
