What todo now? The Kalmar union is difficult to make. Not that Sweden or Norway presents any problem, military. But they are christian, and without a "rightfull" claim, it will cost me plenty in rep. (somethings are precious ;)).
I am probably going to "liberate" Spain, but other than that???'
I could also go for the "controller of the pope" status.
Any ideas?

Go for the controller of the pope whatever that means. What power do you get? I know that someone mentioned that you could excommunicate but can you call for crusades or other cool stuff?

Pity on the Kalmar union though.... perhaps you could still work slowly to form that. Take a province or two now and then.

right in the peak of Mork's campaign :) tell us what you did in the meantime :)

I didn't do anything. It just wouldn't be the same without semi-realtime updates here.
I started a game as Byzans (on a harder difficulty) though, and they are quite powerfull. The game does get more difficult btw.

You could always assassinate her husband, couldn't you? ;) Then take her for yourself, or one of your sons or cousins or nephews ... Incidentally, what the frick are Muslims doing in Denmark?!

You get pretenders (to some title) from the provnces you conquer. They are called "claim-holders" or something similar, and can be quite useful (bigger court, claim-by-proxy).

how was it with byz? were u successful again?

Somewhat. I got to be king of the Cumans (in addition to Emperor of Byzans).

And I learned that "The oldest takes all"-inheritance law, is not the best choice (stewardship of... wait for it... a little more... one.).

The only law worse than that, is the "I will split-up my empire, so my sons wont have anypower, atall"-law.

Elective inheritance seems like a gods-gift compared to that.

The inheritance laws can be really fun! (I'm serious).

I'm not that far into the game though.

I'm waiting for a report on your Byzantine adventure. Most interesting.

Since the inheritance laws rules the inheritance of titles (doh), does different titles have their own laws? I mean you mentioned that besides being the Emperor you are also the King of Cumans, is it possible that these titles are inherited in different ways or does all titles just pool up and the title holder chose one laws to apply to them all?

Also while I'm at it.... :D Being both King of Cumans and Emperor are the countries ruled seperatly or are they ruled just like one country?

Gah! So the Comneni have no titles? Guess that means you can't play as them unless you give them some titles and reload...

They do have some titles, just under different names (for reasons I do not know).

The inheritance laws.
  • There are basicly four different laws.
  • Oldest get's all.
  • Strongest get's all.
  • Divided between all sons (bad law).
  • Strongest vassal gets all.

There are three other law, but they are just variations on the first three laws (inheritance going through females or not).
FYI stay the h*** away from "semisalic gavelkind". Trust me. Unless you only want to play one character (like the beta-aar's), or are a masocist who likes physical pain.

The change are instant, but your vassals are probably going to rebel against you (especially if you have the "elective" law).

Here's the inheritance laws...

Salic primogeniture - All titles go to the oldest male child or of dead his oldest male child. If the oldest male child cannot provide an heir, the next oldest male child traces inheritance.

Semisalic primogeniture - All titles go to the oldest child, or if dead his oldest child and so on. If the oldest child cannot provide an heir, the next oldest child taces inheritance. This allows a female to trace inheritance, though a female may never inherit but only pass it on to a male.

Salic consanguinity - All titles go to the strongest (most powerful) child, or if dead, his oldest brother and so on. If no child survives, then the strongest grandchild inherits and so on.

Semisalic consanguinity - All titles go to the strongest child or if dead his oldest brother and so on. If no child survives, then the strongest grandchild inherits and so on. This allows a female to trace inheritance, though a female may never inherit but only pass it on to a male.

Salic gavelkind - All titles are divided equially between all male heirs in order of age. Children, then grandchildren and so on, but ignoring males that trace their lineage through their mothers, fx. the sons of your daughters.

Semisalic gavelkind - All titles are divided equally between all male heir in order of age, children, then grandchildren and so on.

Elective law - The strongest male vassal takes all.

They can be changed every 20 years, and have a grave effect on the loyalty of your vassals.

Hey Mork I got a few questions:

1. can you play a smaller nations that dosnt start out as a King owned nation, say for instance, id play Bavaria or some sort, and I wanted to be King but not king of Germany or any other, is that posible??

I assum thats the reason you have gone for any of the other Kingship Titels am I correct?

2: Can you give a deeper insight into how the tech tree works? i mean dose it progress through graduly?

3: Is Child birth for the Ruling Famlie Hamperd with Age, like in RL? I mean a 45 years old or 50 Old women will most likely bare no child compared to a other Female thats in thier 19-30's? Is that concept simulated in the game?

think thats all of my questions atm, dont know if some have been answerd before, but I got a memory like a Sive :D and siffting threw 43 pages isnt exacly easy lol.

It's pooled. But you can hand out fiefdoms to your next of kin (usually a good idea).

This has been answered a gazillion times already. Yes, you can play any christian dynasty that holds some kind of land, like Bavaria or count of Rioja (don't).

2: Can you give a deeper insight into how the tech tree works? i mean dose it progress through graduly?

No, and no

3: Is Child birth for the Ruling Famlie Hamperd with Age, like in RL? I mean a 45 years old or 50 Old women will most likely bare no child compared to a other Female thats in thier 19-30's? Is that concept simulated in the game?

Women in their teens, are *very* fertile :D.
70 women are not...
