So, in my Viking game there happen things I just can explain.

Firstly, upon death of the Scandinavian emperor, one of my kinsmen inherited the Kingdom of Wales and left my realm. The Kingdom did not exist before, for some strange logic this is to be working as designed, I heard. What I don't get is, why don't I get a freaking claim to reunite the empire? Really fun to go conquering when after a generation or two they just split without the option to reunite.

Secondly, raiding. Sometimes, my raider just don't raid. That comes in two flavors:

- most of the time, the looting/raiding icon just does not appear, and they just stand in the province looking silly. Why? They are definitely in raid mode, but they just don't do a thing.
- a new variant appeared a short time ago: The raiding symbol is red (like when the province is fully raided) and the message says: "You are not allowed to loot count X". Again, why? There are no NAPs or something, why can't I raid?

1) Your first problem is just elective gavelkind, which is a punishment for Pagan tribals. As far as I remember, if you and your brother are the same rank you get a claim on each other. Otherwise, like in your situation, he's the one with the only claim. To avoid this, reforming or converting should be a top priority and should probably be done no later than your second generation otherwise things will get worse as your family grows in size.

2) I know that the event-spawned raiders you get from your Marshal are a little bit buggy and you have to play around with splitting and merging. Your second raiding problem however sounds like that new mechanic that was added in with patch 2.5.1/2 where if your raiders have lost a battle against your target they are not allowed to keep raiding that target. It's supposed to basically keep the AI off your back for a period of time so you don't have constantly put down the same raider group every five minutes. I personally never knew this was a thing either since there's no way to tell other than not being able to raid someone, until another forumite mentioned this. Can't quite remember though if the time limit is six months or a year following the battle.

Same... This also got me. I guess it's 5 years.

From this thread.

According to this value in defines.lua, the default is 5 years (60 months). I assume that this is attached to the ruler whose army was shattered, so it does not survive his death should he expire before then.

Code:
SHATTERED_RETREAT_FORBIDDEN_LOOT_MONTHS = 60, -- How many months a character will be forbidden to raid an enemy after their armies shatter

most of the time, the looting/raiding icon just does not appear, and they just stand in the province looking silly. Why? They are definitely in raid mode, but they just don't do a thing.

They can raid; the icon doesn't matter, they are "forced" into raiding mode. At least they did when I moved them to a foreign province alone, but it may end up with unexpected results if you merge them with an army and play around the raiding button maybe?

As for the splitting realm, I think that you get claims IF you get one of your sons to inherit your main title.
