Theres no point in playing on very easy the AI is pathetic... :(

start on normal/furious... :)
Not furious, it ruins the AI. When playing aggressive or furious, the AIs launch themselves in worthless wars, which ruins the european map (and gives way too much easynesses to the human player).

A first game on very easy/coward with an easy country like France 1492 or China 1419 is enough, as you'll probably ruin this first game whatever you do. ;)

(unless you follow the Learning Curve with France 1419 :D )

I find that normal/coward is the most fun to play.

For a truly evil game, play VH/coward. The AI builds its forces up big time before attacking, and then comes with massive armies.

Fun Stuff.

I thought the general consensus on the most difficult game was to start at Very Hard/Furious or similar, then once you've weathered the storm switch to Weakling or Coward (for once you've got a lead on computer players, DoWs usually just help to avoid badboy...). Eh, I always play on VH/Weakling anyway, so I can't really talk.
