P.S. Thanks for the screenshot. Even when the events are described very well, I like seeing the map to know what's going on (in this case, I had forgotten/not known that Spain had taken so much of France while it was off conquering Hungary).

This is really the first time I see such a big annexion occur. Very rare indeed...

This is the first AAR I've seen referencing pacific colonies or moves south into Persia. You've established a city on the pacific ocean and provinces south towards Persia. How much time/effort did it take to move the expedition to the pacific (you said 'the long walk')? How well economically are these colonies paying off?
Also, what info do you have of China, Japan or India?
Do you think it would make sense for (your) Russia to move into these areas or to establish alliances?

Well, the Siberian corridor towards Pacific needs crossing something like 20 provinces, all covered by the fog of war. The optimized path is the following: you have your last province bordering a terra incognita province. When spring comes, send your conquistador. It takes circa 6 months to discover it. Send a colonist if you can (ie if this province is bordered by a controlled province of yours with a city) otherwise a trader (if your bordering province is a trade post or not yet a full city).
Pray for the success of your colonist/trader (there are natives, so you have an average 50% chance).
Take back your conquistador to the safety of your province for winter cause winter attrition is hard...
If your attempt to create a trade post / colony was succesful, put your conquistador in it and next spring, continue like this.

So, if you are lucky, consistent and wealthy, it will take something like 50 years...

But the investment will be worth it on the long run...

Really want an AAR for the last century?

Well well well, I would say that Russia has become undestructible and Poland got a taste of it.

I have implented a nice colony in the American East coast and one on the west coast.

For the sake of an ungoing beta-testers' thread concerning Aisan nations I invaded and annexed China in one long war, losing at a time all my navy in the Gulf of Tonkin.

I also have colonized Bali, Australia and Tahiti...
To help Denmark, I eventually annexed the Hansa...

Ah yes, Persia was so weakend by Turkey that annexing it was a piece of cake.

I began to think that's a bit too much. Just invade India and I will have all Asia...

/Laruku

Well Laruku, I must say there are two ways to write an AAR. Either you are as dedicated as Sap, note all what happens precisely, dates, names, etc. Or like me you just play at night and take some time the following morning to write an AAR with what I recall (therefore lack of precise numbers, names I forget, etc.)

ANd I do not follow what happens in areas where I have no interest, except when I see a strange message like 'Corsica has broken free from its former oppressor Genoa'.

So I do not have any idea of how the Papacy gained its position. Did they fight Spain to get Naples or did they invade an independent Naples ? No idea, sorry.

The knights of St John still exist in Rhodes and only there.

I just love what happened to the borders, everything got mixed up.
anyway, I have a question,
there's light brown province just south of modern-day Finland. can you tell me what nation that is, or to whom it belongs? if it's not a nation, than I would guess it belongs to Norway.

yndenwal,

You really made Russia into a superpower - and quickly, too. Good job. Do you think Russia is easy (now that you have conquered all of Asia, practically)? You should be able to use your massive manpower and money to swamp Europe. Or do you have problems with all the different peoples and religions?

Well actually Norway was a part of Denmark, so I guess it is Danish territory.

Yep, it's Estonia, conquered by Denmark from the late Teutonic Order.

Yes I could storm Europe probably but I won't because I do not like the idea and religions would cause a mess with revolts everywhere.
Russia is not easy at start. But if you succeed quickly to annex all those minor south of Muscovy, then Russia can really become extremely powerful.

Wow, how do you keep track and control all those Asian provinces? Most be a nightmare to keep the overview of them!

Also, can you name your own colonies or is there different names for them depending on countries? (Refering to the Dutch colony on your screenshots, Fort Zeelandia)

But I must warn you. Time is short. Right now we have a breathing space. The thunder of cannons has stopped. Fighting has ceased. If we are to create an United European States, whatever name and form it will take, we must start now!

Wow thanks for the Asian screenshot. I have a question though, all those blotches of Terra Incognita in the middle of the ocean. Are they permanant Terra Incognita or just places where the Russians didnt get around to exploring in this game? Is part of the New Guinea permanant Terra Incognita? Also is that line of provinces from Russia to china the extent of the provinces you can get to in central Asia? So basically north and south of that remains permanantly Terra Incognita?

When playing solo, there is a good solution : pause. I dare not imagine the hell it will be while playing multiplayer games without pause.

Colony names are given, you cannot chose them. Each country has a list of possible colony names.

Oceans: Russian being no great sea explorers, they have globaly stuck to coastlines. These areas are not permanent TI.

All white LAND areas on this picture are permanent TI (part of Papua, Australia, Inland Asia etc.)

Permanent TI? You can find part of Papua New Guinea but you can't discover the rest of the coastline? That seems a bit unrealistic. Is that really how it is? Or do you mean the interior (jungle too thick, etc.)?
