Wow, I can't believe Paradox never thought about that! How stupid of them. If only they had known the solution to their problem was to hire very expensive graphic artists in large numbers. And because Paradox has the budget of EA, they can, of course, afford that.

I can just add: do not jump into the water if you can't swim!

Does anyone seriously think that because there are some who don't see the benefit of 3D while the programs do see the benefit, that any change back to 2D is going to happen?

Why anyone ever posts, over and over and over, about this 3D is beyond me. Get used to it: it is here to stay.

Play the game, and quit complaining like a small child.

I'm fairly pleased with the graphic representation. I don't know what people thought they would be getting, but it pretty much looks like all the screen shots I was seeing for a year leading up to the release...

Just my personal opinion, but if I cared about amazing, cutting-edge graphics, I would have bought a Total War game. When I saw the screenshots for EU3 I thought the same thing, that the 3D was kind of unnecessary, but it doesn't really distract from the gameplay and even lends a little atmosphere.

I'm sure the mod community will do what it can.. Paradox has made it MORE accessible.

I am also sure Paradox will get better at the 3D and they had to start somewhere.

Soon we may see user controlled rotating camera views (though we may forget where north and south is). May even get a view from the moon, rotating teh planet as we see fit.

It is time to stop bitching about the 3D and play the damned game... and bitch about the AI.

Well even if you can mod to have any camera view, it may not be a good idea. Changing views can do more than disorient. The game was designed with a specific view and flipping it around could cause many graphic bugs seen in games that make no restrictions on camera view at all.

We should add that most "good looking" 3D RTS games have nowhere near the scope of EU3. Even TotalWar is Europe and the Mediteranean only.

EU3 is definitely not a 3-d High End Game. Rise of Nations, Empire Earth II, including several other RTS's were all higher end games released a couple years or so ago. Even Ages of Empires III... All which work on crappy on Video Cards and all of which I can honestly say I'm not all that impressed with.

Empire Earth II was Dreadful graphics, even with a good card your eyes fuzz out, as the way they generate the graphics makes it impossible to follow. Rise of Nations and all the addons I was displeased with they worked but they weren't that good with gameplay. Empire Earth I was superior to RON. Ages of Empires III was made for the consumer, made by Microsoft but the game is sort of boring. The whole concept is a waste... I was expecting Ages of Empires I, II and then wow 3, nope. Didn't work out that way. The Graphics no matter how good or bad do not save the dreadful game.

I really honestly didn't think EU3 was going to be highend on the graphics, it turns out to be less Visually stunning than Ages of Empires II a game that is 8 years old! It requires a video card 20Xs more powerful!

Sorry to say but this was not a wise move for Paradox however we'll live and adapt, let's just hope that we hear that the Paradox team gets the game operational and bug free. From what I hear from MultiPlayer Users it's not ready yet to come out of beta. So you shouldn't really waste your money and go out and buy it, you should wait 6 months or a year until it's been tested and there's several Patches out. Much like EU2 that needed much refining this game will require it.. Some EU2 players and HOI lovers will not likely convert to Eu3. Despite graphics, despite Hardware neccessities

I really don´t care about the graphics but now I am waitingb for the next patch: selling provinces doesn´t work at all. Why is it always with Paradox games that I have to wait a couple of months after purchasing the game, before a working patch is out? And I am talking about a simple thing: feature that doesn´t work at all and ruins the game! Doesn´t anybody test these games? It takes exactly one minute in the game to test if the feature works at all!

I don't think the 3D is bad - it's just bland and featureless. But then, so is HOI2. The map in HOI2 is so featureless I almost quit playing, because it just didn't feel like I was capturing anything much worth having.

thats true.. but I'm just very bitter about the fact that I used money on the game

I completely understand. I hate it when I buy a game and it turns out to be rubbish. I would disagree with your assessment that EU3 was a waste of money, but opinions vary and you're certainly entitiled to your opinion.

As someone who helped betatest the game and is intimately familiar with the EU franchise, I would encourage you to try and look past the "exterior" and focus on the gameplay, which is in most aspects, superior to your beloved EU2.
