In my be of no use but there is a file in the install directory called DevInfo.txt and in that it should specify what hardware the game is actually using. If the the graphics card in that is different from the one you think it's using then that may be the issue.

As other users have mentioned it's most likely an issue with your computer using its intergrated GPU instead of the dedicated one, as with your specs the game should run silky smooth.

Have you been in touch with our support dept?

An iMac with a discrete graphics card uses only it's graphics card. There is no other option.

The game is playable on Macs as many users on this forum can attest.

The game needs some more OSX optimization to run smoothly.
The game runs the same if not slightly better, in a window on my OSX desktop on a Win 7 virtual machine (thru Paraellels Desktop). So it is an OSX optimization problem not a hardware one. But I, like the OP much prefer to run it native on OSX.

The OP might want to look at what other programs are active, did he run thru any of the other numerous trouble shooting steps for OSX.

All this info is available online.
As an example, reset the SMC (system management controller) not a likely culprit but once in a while it can cause other problems that you would not think could be related and this step is the simplest, you just unplug the the machine for ~30 to 60 seconds. There are more basic checks available on line.

Anyway I have over 50+ hours in game and even with some of the issues I've mentioned in other posts it's been a great game. I think CO did a great job in its creation.

It's almost certainly defaulting to your CPU's integrated graphics, as others have said. Check out this freeware menu bar app to force it to use your GTX card instead (i.e., set it to "Discrete Only"):

I own a iMac from 2013 - it's a 8 GB, quad core with a Geforce GTX680M.. And the game is unplayable. It lags like crazy!
Can you be more precise than "unplayable" and "lags like crazy"? I'm running the game on a basic 2012 MBP with 4 gigs of RAM and no dedicated graphics card. While I'm averaging around 12 fps, I wasn't expecting any better and wouldn't call it unplayable. I'm wondering if the game isn't running as well as you'd expected (like on your Windows partition), or if it's actually unplayable.

Like other people earlier, it'd also be helpful if you could paste the contents of the devInfo.txt file (right click on the game in your Steam library > properties > local files > browse local files... this will open a folder in Finder where that file's located).

I will try and upload that file when I get home. Is that instead of the playerlog some people talk about?
No, that one's a lot more detailed and can easily be found with Finder, open a Finder window and press shift+cmd+G, then paste "~/Library/Logs/Unity" without the quotation marks and press enter.

I remember reading once that Apple only allow for either integrated or auto-switching on their Desktop Macs. I think Apple trying to maintain a Business use slant with their Desktops and don't seem to encourage gaming. To be honest I'm surprised they allow games to run on their machines at all!!

Because Apple Users (rightly or wrongly) only make up a small percentage of computer users there is a lot less customised support available. Linux does a lot better better despite also being a minority OS because it is free and so is so much of it's software.

8GB of RAM may struggle on a Mac if the graphics card is sharing the system RAM as is often the case in Apple computers.

I can't seem to fins any option in my system preferences that can even allow my iMac to set anything for graphics cards. Neither can I do it on my 2014 MacBook Pro-r, but that doesn't have a discrete GPU.

And I don't agree that Apple Users only make up a small percentage of computer users. Yes, Windows is far more used, but OS X takes around 10% of sales, that's still a lot of consumers that can generate income for a company and that deserves support.

On Steam, Mac and Linux users combined is about 4.5% and Steam users are that is the audience that will potentially buy CSL. ANd those seem to generate over 50% of the issues I've seen.

But, yes I still agree you deserve support.

Is there an iMac forum that can help you with your graphic card settings?

It's the nature of the beast, even on an iMac with a discrete graphics card there are no card settings to change.
