I have yet to make it to 1100 in the two games that I played (both times my dynasty died off from disease), of course I have only owned the game for 3 days or so.
It's TOO short.
There's a file called "defines" in a lot of p'dox games. If CK2 has it, you can change the start/end date. Not on my home computer right now, so I'll check it when I get home.
it depends, sometimes I really need new goals and abandon a game.
so far on my fourth LoR game, only one finished, my Roman empire was done when the mongols kept refusing to attack me and went for weaker powers and Wales was ended because of insane blobbing.
my current Absolute Cognatic Ireland is gonna be interesting though, just won an invasion for Scotland, and now I noticed that the ERE which had been slowly recovering from its loss of Greece to the Fatimids (most of Greece is now in Norwegian hands due to crusade) is pressing his claims to England...
furthest I've made it from a 1066 was back in 1.05, starting as the D'Ivrea dynasty. Ended up as king of Burgundy & Italy, and broke away from the HRE, in the early 1200's. I ended it by the 1330's if i remember correctly, mostly because I got bored. (my dynasty was ruling what was left of the HRE, Poland, France and Hungary, while I had conquerored Sicily). After that I just couldn't find more things to do
That's way better than my complaint. The only complaint that I have is the strange time warp that happens when I play it. I sit down for a quick 15 minute game and when I look up at the clock 2 hours has passed.It's TOO short.
My actual complaint is that the Independence faction should really only lower Crown Authority if they win. Just by launching it, they are lowering my crown authority.

I've played over 700 hours of CK2, and not completed a game yet, I wish I was joking.
I formed Rus and was living up untill mid 1200s when the mongols came and basically ate me alive. Game over. That is the furthest i have got! Too much restarting.
Did they gave you any chance to rule even a petty county? Or do they simply wipe out the entire kingdom?
Myself, I always make sure I play my games right through to the end - I always end in either 1453, or when I'm crushed, whichever comes first. I either start in 1066 or 1081 (when I want Rum to be established and Byzantium weak, the classical crusade set-up).
This has the added advantage that, when Paradox puts a patch out, I won't get it until I finish my current game, which means that when I do start a new game, all the bugs of the new patch have been ironed out :happy:
I wasted maybe 100 hours in my last playthrough and just reached year 1300, then patch 1.07 kicked in and broke my save. Consider yourself lucky to even reach 1453It's TOO short.
Back in CK1, I remember sitting down at around 11 pm, thinking I'd just play for ½ an hour then go to bed.
Next time I looked at the clock it was 4.30 AM, and I had school.. xD
Sadly, I have yet to reach 1453... there just comes a point where I've accomplished all of my goals, and all that's left to do is become an uglier blob with little threat of anything stopping me from doing so. I think factions have helped a bit with this, as I find myself regularly having to slap down respectable threats now from within.
But mostly, I've learned to be a little less gung-ho about my goals. I'll work towards em', but I'll gladly spend time inbetween screwing with my own internal politics and using alliances to help steer pieces of the world in the proper direction. Sure, I did hold all of de jure Abyssinia, but as soon as Axum drifted into de jure Nubia I was happy to pass the rest back to my kinsman and let the mountains to my south rule themselves with me jumping in should they fall into any serious danger. Sadly, the AI does not have this notion and now Iberia and North Africa are painted blue and grey as the HRE and France blob like silly.
