..and I really want this game. I love EUII but this just looks and sounds incredible. Is there anyway I could play this with that processor speed. I have a 256mb video card, so I have that end covered. This game just looks incredible. I really do need to upgrade, but don't really have that kind of cash laying around. Thanks for your assistance.

I'm running it on a fairly old P4 2.2 w/ 1 gig of mem and a decent video card. Game plays just fine.

I'm playing it on a 2GHz processor and a 256MB graphics card without much ado, the only thing that is slow is the initial loading time, but after that it all runs smoothly on my pc.

I probably have the worst system here - 1.86 Laptop Pentium M, 1G of ram, and an X300 graphics card. And (with everything turned down including resolution) it still plays no problem in single player. MP is pretty laggy though.

Nope, I'm running EU3 on a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM, Radeon 9800. The game runs just fine. I imagine I'll use speed settings other than maximum once my new computer arrives, though. ;)

Do I see a competition? In that case I'll have to try and win. I run EUIII on a AMD Sempron 1600+ (approx. 1.4 GHz). I don't know if that's something to be proud of, so I might add that my graphics card kicks ass.

Well, I´m running the game on a 1,6 Ghz Pentium M with a mobility Radeon with 128 MB memory and 1 GB of RAM.
It runs, but the slow game speed gets really annoying sometimes.
(It´s about like playing EU2 without the 2 highest sspeed settings)

This all sounds promising

It sounds like the graphics card is what really handles this game. I think I read somewhere on this board that a Geforce 6200 is adequate for this game. This is great news. I have wanted this game since I first heard about it. Weird thing is, I just went out yesterday and threw down some cash on a new video card. Thanks for everyones help!!! I do appreciate everything.

My setup sounds pretty identical to yours. I get about a 5-minute year. But that's playing with a mod which is pretty dense (Magna Mundi, with some beta stuff). I haven't timed it on vanilla. It's faster. Not fast, but faster.

There was a whole thread somewhat related to this. Basically, if you're working on a 5-minute year, Castille is fun. Sweden is fun. Even Bavaria is fun. The Maldives are not so much. Huron is not at all.

Some countries you really need to be able to burn through the decades, and my system won't handle it. So if I play one of them, I bring a book. A big book.

When you look at CPU speed you need to keep in mind that a Pentium M, Core, or Core2 CPU is probably at least 50% faster than its clock speed would indicate when compared to a Pentium 4. And, as said earlier, the video card is probably the most critical factor for most people here; if you play lots of modern FPS games you may have a card fast enough that the CPU becomes more important. (At least one person has posted that he runs EU3 on a P3 CPU at less than 1 GHz with a good video card.)

Try downloading and playing the demo - from what I'm given to understand, it plays around the same speed as the actual game, and there really isn't much you can to speed things up. The video card seems to make a bigger difference than your processor, so I don't think you need to worry.

If you're worried about the price of the game, it's on sale for yesterday and today only for $15 at Gamersgate, I've been told (an online retailer - there's a link to it here in the forums).
