How unpredictable the game becomes when you disable historical focuses? How much replayability does it have?

Are synthetic factories worth it compared to just trading civ factories for the goods?
I don't have the press version, but i will answer from my understanding (OP can Confirm/Correct as needed)
For both airwars and with naval missions you setup the missions, the AI won't change the mission or assign a new mission
so for naval missions they have a home port, you assign a raiding mission to a fleet,
you can then assign a mission area of up to 3 sea zones that the fleet will carry out the mission within,
you can setup a ratio of damage that the fleet will break off action and repair until full strength, before resuming the mission (or optionally have individual ships break away for repairs, get repaired and then rejoin the fleet)
You also setup the formation that your fleet travels in, which affects certain things.
Once you've done setup those options the AI will carry them out without your input until you want to change the mission, or they're destroyed or perhaps..(OP input needed here... i'm not sure if losing the port the fleet is based in cancels the mission.)
For air wars, you assign an amount of airplanes (you can assign more than you have if you want to account for future growth) to an airwing then assign the airwing to an airfield, then select the airwing and assign it to an air region(best if nearby), each wing can only be assigned to a single air region
you then assign it a mission (Air Superiority or Air Intercept for defending against air raids, each has a different focus on shooting down fighters/bombers) As long as you're still producing fighters they will automatically join the air wings you have setup(upto the maximum you set) you can still lose air superiority if you don't pay attention because your opponent can drop in several air wings into a single region you've only got 1 wing in, however you can drop more in as well
Overall the automation mechanics on naval and air combat don't seem to be at the same level of the ground war, but they seem light years ahead of HoI3
Counters are in play, NATO counters have to be selected in options, in order to see them in all zoom levels it's 2 separate check boxes, I personally have avoided playing HoI 3 for long enough that i can't tell if there is any difference between the ones in HoI4 and HoI3
@OP, let me know if you're okay with me answering additional questions i know the answer to (or at least am fairly sure of) with you correcting me if needed, I've avoided doing so till now as i don't want to appear to have a copy of the game, but i figure you might enjoy the time saved, and as long as you correct me if needed it might be alright with everyone involved... If this wasn't okay with you I apologize and will go back to simply lurking in the thread(aside from the few technical questions i may think up)
They are the second most expensive building at 8750 "points" (nuclear reactor is worth 15000).
Someone made an analysis (didn't find it with a quick search) that show it's more expensive to produce than to trade. But it cannot be cut-off like trade, only bombed.
You're quite welcomeMy thanks. I can't imagine the OP would mind you providing correct information, especially when you take the time to explain it as thoroughly as you did. I am assuming what you said to be true, and the ability to assign a 'return to port' command when you hit a damage threshold is huge.
Two Items, to whomever feels qualified:
1. Elaborate on the air wing concept, if you would. Or if you would be so kind send me in the direction of an in depth discussion of the air war concepts in general. Rommel did a good job on a pencil sketch of the situation but I'm looking for the paint by numbers kit.
2. Any visual images of the NATO counters?
How do you get manpower as a small nation? Conquerring provinces doesn't seen to get any significant amount.
Is world conquest as minor ever possible?
You're quite welcome
1: http://www.hoi4wiki.com/Air_warfare something like this? i'm not sure of anything better to point you to
2: http://www.hoi4wiki.com/Land_units has the NATO counters if you scroll down
I know some streamers are using themPerfect. Thank you kindly.
However, is there an actual screen shot of the counters themselves, not the unit icons? I want to see the level of detail it reveals at one glance; unit designation, etc.
I have seen Portugal join the Axis once.
What resources are in sub-sahara Africa. I want to see if its even worth conquering.
