More like bad game design, as I said.

Sorry what the **** are you talking about?
What do you think is "bad game design"?
You act ... well sorry i can't find another word...some kind of stupid.
You paid your lesson and now you cry about "bad game design"?

You lost what? 100 Prestige and 100 Gold?
Thats a fair price for your action...

I do support that the event text "Press the claim!" is a bit confusing when you lost the claim later because you didn't "pressed" ist, but everything you demand is ....don't want to word it...

Of course everyone should have their opinion but i got really mad, because of gamers like you, we get games like Total War etc....

Paradox is one of the last Developer, where you must use your brain to play the games succesfully.
Even the former niche of RPG has become a "follow the questmarker"-bullsh*t on which you can train monkeys in about a week.
And now you want a teddybear game of ck2...

You say:
Sure, but then you're out all the time you spent on the claim. Again, I want to press the claim; I just want to be on a war-footing first.
I did understand you right, you want to "press" a claim but only if you know you will win the war?
What kind of pus**talk is this?

Sorry i have to stop, i don't meant to be personal, but gamers like you are one of the reasons 99,9% of games on the market are not worth a second to think about...
If PI would listen to you, they could make a button "win the game" -> you click -> HAPPY

I really need a drink to cool down now...

Much better ;-)

So, why don't you delete what you wrote, apologize, and try again in a more reasonable tone?

No one is asking for teddybear anything. I'm saying if I press a claim, and I die before I can go to war over it, I shouldn't lose the claim and what I invested in it both. I'm also saying that since I don't know when a claim will pop up, it's unfair for me to have to be ready to go to war at a moment's notice over it. There are multiple ways to solve this issue: you could, for example, have a screen of manufactured claims. When your chancellor gets one, it goes on the list. THEN when you're ready to press it, you click on it at your leisure, pay the costs THEN, and go to war. But that takes a lot more coding. Having manufactured claims expire after X years (or maybe X years unless pressed in a war) seems to me a simpler solution, and one less annoying.

I disagree on a fundamental level.

Here's an idea: don't manufacture claims with a 50 year old king. Or better, make sure you ARE ready to go to war as soon as you get the claim, like I do when I am fabricating claims. Or heck, you can always try to get the claim legitimately, like say, inviting a claimant to your court, and pressing his claim?

Or we can make the game even easier than it already is to pander to people who have no idea how to plan ahead, strategize, take a risk, or eat a loss, I guess.

Let me guess, you're the type who reloads whenever you lose a war?

I don't mean to be insulting here, I am just seriously concerned that you aren't considering the facts of the matter, and are upset over something that you really shouldn't be upset over. Criticizing something that didn't go your way as bad game design is a precarious position, at best.

You are being insulting. All you've done is be insulting, attacking me and my character without the slightest notion about me or my playstyle, and without giving thought to anything but your own bias. In short, you're a cad, and not one worth talking to any longer now that everyone has seen you for what you are. Honestly you don't seem all that much better drunk than you were sober.

sirbruce, it makes sense to me. If you have a really old king, you shouldn't be seeking to expand your realm, but seeking to solidify the inheritance, so that your NEXT king can expand without worrying about internal strife. That's how the game is. Nobody is asking you to be ready to declare war on a moment's notice. If you have an old king and you're creating a claim, then yeah, you DO have to be ready to declare war on a moment's notice, or risk your king dying. That's a risk you're undertaking. If this is not made clear to you in-game, then THAT's the thing that must be changed. Otherwise, you're asking to change a fundamental game mechanic, because it inconvenienced you.

If I got anything wrong here, feel free to correct me.

What you go wrong is thinking this is about being an old king, probably because other posters are muddying the waters with that. It has nothing to do with being old; you can die at any time at any age. Again, the issue is getting a claim, paying for the claim, and then being expected to declare war immediately if you want to ensure you don't lose it.

Ahahahaha, seriously, stop being so over sensitive.

Anyways, back on topic, I don't think it's particularly bad design. Can it be irritating? Sure. But most people seem to agree that it's not so bad.

It's just continuing in the tradition of Paradox games - there are always ways provided to achieve ahistorical goals. But they're not necessarily easy or reliable (If they are, they're hopefully fixed in beta :D )

Insulting other forum members is against the rules. Stop this now or infractions will be handed out. You may not agree with the original poster, but his question is still valid.

And yes, the wording "Press the claim" on the event option is unfortunate even if it's not "wrong". Should probably be looked at.

And yes, the wording "Press the claim" on the event option is unfortunate even if it's not "wrong". Should probably be looked at.

Also, and maybe this is just a Demo issue, but the "Let It Go" option doesn't appear to be working right either. It looks like in the files that it's supposed to give you gold and prestige for not pressing the claim. Instead, it still costs you... just not as much... and you get the claim anyway. But someone must have noticed this already...
