I like the idea of the DLC. I may not run it with every game, but I will definitely buy it. Thank you Paradox, for taking the time to make additional content for the game, and I hope that scenario DLCs continue to release over time alongside the major patches and expansion DLCs. :)

For me, the bigger problem with this DLC (apart from the fact that the Aztecs didn't even get established in Central America by the XVth century), is that it deals a massive prestige blow to CK2.

I mean, until now I could talk to it to people as being a serious attempt at recreating the medieval world (skirting the fantasy Empires that have been added and the balance issues, that is...), but now, any serious people who heard about the game will just say "that Civ-like game that has Aztecs invading Europe in the Middle Ages?" and move off laughing.

And odds are, they'll laugh at me for playing such a game  . This blemishes CK2 an awful lot.

Because Train Simulator is forever blemished and disowned as a Simulator of the Train related kind by the fact it has a two (because the first one did so well i guess) DLCs about Zombies?

Oh wait it's not.

No, they'll just say that CK2 is that game where you can download add-on to have Aztecs invade if you want. In this day and age where it is normal for games to have one crazy DLC, nobody will care.
After all, even the biggest fans of SI won't have it turned on most of the time ^_^; Well unless you are someone who muzt hav a11 DLC turn 0n but than the problem ain't in PI or the DLC...

I'll never say no to a dlc that adds fun as long as it can be turned off for when I'm in more of a realistic mood. I think it's a good direction if it doesn't slow down the timeline of the other dlcs (and as a dev myself I know that doing some fun dev work like this every now and again increases my productivity for more serious work).

I'm not bothered by the DLC itself; it's ones choice to purchase it or not. But I did try to push CK2 to students as a way for them to have a (very basic) idea on how the (Western Christian) medieval world 'felt' like. But with this, if non-core gamers hear about this DLC, I'll be accused of trying to pass on 'nutty' stuff to the kids. They won't give a rat's ass weather it is 'normal' in games or not to have a 'nutty' DLC - or even if it's a DLC, if they know the concept at all - they'll just think that CK2 is a "game where the Aztecs invade Europe in the Middle Ages", and thus as educational as Civ.

So basically now I have to keep my mouth shut about it. It is sad for me.

Well I intended for this to foster positive discussion, but haters and naysayers seem determined to want to **** up any thread that talks good about the DLC.

While I prefer historical settings, I don't really understand what's the problem with the Sunset Invasion. Fantasy scenarios are something you play few time for fun and giggles when you take break from your more serious campaign. Fantasy scenarios didn't break EU1 & 2 or HoI2 or ruin those franchises and I assume that fantasy scenario won't ruin CKII either. If you don't like fantasy scenarios then don't buy it, there isn't even any need to buy it just to get most recent updates, like there was in case of Doomsday: Armageddon.

Well It isn't completely impossible that some Mesoamericans could have invaded the old world at some point. Some of those Civilizations were fairly advanced. If say the Vikings had sent more expeditions to the new World and sent them further south as well They may have arrived in Central America and spread technology to the Locals then by the 13th Century they may have been advanced enough to send expeditions back across the Atlantic. But I'd prefer if Rather than being Aztecs who in this alternate time line may or may not have arrived in Mexico earlier it was a broad Coalition of Meso Americans who sent a combined force to Europe made up of Mayans, Aztecs and other Peoples from the region. Anyway I'd probably get it at some point and it'll probably be fun.
