This goes for both the Mongols and popular support for faction events. I understand that the Mongols need their troops spawned when they arrive, but they really need to have some sort of condition for de-spawning, as the current AI takes brutal advantage of their attrition free status. It also causes the Mongolians to be unusually stable.

This is also the main reason I'll stay far away from the Aztec DLC.

This was the whole point though. The Mongols are supposed to be totally unstoppable (even though they still aren't) and the faction troops are to make empires harder to hold together. The game was far too easy to achieve world conquest and this makes it harder, although not really by enough in my opinion.

I would prefer if they used other methods to make the game harder. Huge attrition free stacks seems a cheap solution to real problems. I have no idea what a better solution would be though.

I do agree with this. I'm happy that they are trying to make things more difficult, but some of the methods they use to fix a problem just usually aren't the best solution. There are still lots of problems with factions that I hope will be patched, but I do however think that the Mongols are just fine as they are now.

I'll agree that a 120k stack of mostly horse archers is a bit absurd... I don't mind them having that many free, horse archer-centric troops, but when they move as one giant stack you can't even hope to really hurt them. Heck, if forcing them to be unable to do that meant they got even more troops, I'd be for it.

But disagree with faction support troops. Even with them most rebellions still fail, but at least it gives them a realistic hope of having a shot at winning. The previous system of a massive liege smashing his tiny vassals one at a time was only to the benefit of control freaks who can't stand it when their game takes a direction they weren't keen on.

Vassals should get extra troops, yes, but not 100 times the amount they can levy. If the event fires, it should take the levy and multiply it by 10 or so. And seeing they're peasants flocking to their banners, it makes no sense whatsoever that the stack contains heavy infantry and knights.
