I am not experienced developer by any means, but i know my fair share of unity since I have created some small unity games (mobile & PC).
I don't think Unity is really suitable for a game that requires destruction, large 3d landscapes with lot of moving parts, lot of different terrain, particles etc . For a game like Shadowrun Unity is obviously best choice. This is more like Xcom 2 which runs on Unreal 3.5 . Another big plus is modding, map editing in Unreal is very easy. Unity doesn't support extensive modding tools, which is honestly a sad thing for a game like BattleTech where possibilities for content creation is endless.
I am thoroughly enjoying this game, ,HBS has done a great job and just wanted to give this as a suggestion for their next Battletech game (if they develop it).
