Murdering 5 children and a pregnant wife to get a claim on a duchy? Worth it.
I'm sure it's for the best. Your son is almost certainly better suited to life in a monastery than to life in the gilded cage of a crowned ruler
And if your chosen heir dies before yourself and messes up the succession, just rinse and repeat it one generation later. A fun for the whole dynasty!
In all seriousness, a character's mana values should only become apparent on coming of age (15), at the same time as their initial trait.
But thats not realistic either. Better than knowing it at the date of birth but not realistic nontheless. Every heir starting out as 3/3/3 and then having events affect him in the process of coming to age would be much more realistic.
@flogi You would need an inbreeding coefficient to penalize for having spouses from the same dynasty over a period of time in that scenario. I think such concepts are more in line with CKII than EUIV.

Good point, the stats should be hidden until they're 15 or so?
Now that he's still small, he doesn't understand of which he gets stripped. It's way more terrible if he would have understood what happened.

I kinda like CK2's method of starting out at 0/0/0 and developing their stats as they go. But then EU4 is much less character focused, and the system they have works well enough.
Maybe he just finished a war + event combo that resulted in a huge prestige windfall, while previously negative?
