I did something stupid

I picked the acquire territory 'Belgium' as a wargoal for Belgium. When Belgium surrendered, I was able to get Belgium. However...

I got a truce with Belgium, even though they are still in the Allies. What remained of the Belgian Army (30+ brigades) decided to take a road trip to German occupied Denmark (And I bet eating my foods and using my gas). Now they are just sitting in Arhus, playing soccer and Spades.

I'm about ready to tag shift and disband everyone of them. What gives here?

They are out of supply and with 0 org. they are still in the allies and likely to dow you again. just put one brigade in each province you see their brigades and dow them... they will shatter immediately

iirc that is what you were doing for the last 3 or 4 years, too....:blush:

When I play GER I prefer to acquire territory + puppet. if you have enough convoy you can get some useful stuff out of Belgian Congo.

That's actually fine.

As Germany, if you want to "annex" Belgium, taking the overseas part might not even be that useful. So, you just demand Belgium proper, and let them play Spades in the Belgian Congo with King Leopold's ghost. You don't need convoys or ships to deal with Belgium proper.

The good news:

Annexing, as opposed to occupation, means that you don't have to fool around with pesky GiE or occupation mechanics. You get nationalism, but that will decay over time (and is now affected by suppression). There is no partisan impact to supply.

The bad news:

You can get more leadership and manpower out of Belgium by using Collaboration government, which is only available when you occupy rather than annex.

By the way, when this happened to me I just edited the save file to deal with it. I searched the save file for the Belgium section, copied the province ID of their current capital to the clipboard, then just paste it in as the current location of every Belgian ground unit that was currently moving. Worked a treat.
