It only took 116 hours, but I did it! I formed Brittania, even in the face of an advancing HRE. This is my very first CK2 Game, and I got 11 achievements to boot. I started as Murchad.

Just wanted to yell from the rooftops because for a while I was sure I was hosed.

I'm 10k from matching the kaiser man to man now. I wish there were a way to press all de jure claims. Considering I've been trying to fabricate on winchester for 26 I wont have time to throw the HRE off my lawn.

Invite a claimant of a duchy and press his claim. You will get the whole duchy this way.

I've kind of been forced to start CKII without mods a couple of times now, so i'm now finally getting all those easy achievments after 500 hours played.

Really? I love playing ironman and I'm waiting for WTWSMS to play with a mod again, so i get some sweet achievements.

I would advise anyone to play ironman, it really feels the intended way for the game to be played

I have to play iron man or I save scum every time I lose a battle, plus living with my mistakes makes for more fun emergent gameplay. I picked up the Saint achievement and the one for 100k too

Invade the British part of the HRE. The Kaiser wouldn’t be able to send a decent liberation force over seas.

If you want an easy empire to form, Poland is the way to go IMO.
Alternatively, start as someone like Tuscany and conquer the Lombardy empire from the inside, break away and form Italy.
