First of all, I'm reallyhyped for this game! Haven't posted in years since CK II. I'm glad this finally hapened. Is my favorite time period and I love EU Rome , mainly for the political systems that were introduced.
For years I imagined how the new Rome should be and I wanted two main focus. More control over battles and na even bigger focus in Patrician Families. This time period as a lot of insterasting characteres, and for a time I dreamed of controlling a patrician ascension from senators, Consuls to Emperor. Doing the cursos honorum for characters with potencial etc etc.
I think this wouldn't fit well with the state dimension so instead I wanted a fleshed system of factions for Republics, more like parties:
I - Factions / parties
Instead of military, economic, religious etc. factions, we should have parties focosing on a proeminent character and the system should revolve around its gravitas and autorictas.Ex.Caesareans vs Optimates.
-We choose one party and simultaniously control the state, trying inside the system to get our party to hegemony.
-Other characters shoud be atracted to our party leader through a relation system (family ties, proeminence, lending Money, traits like CKII relation system). In return, we suport our character ambitions (spend party Money to promote elections of a certain character to a certain role, with public games, free bread distribution etc.) So each party can present candidates to oficial roles, army comander etc.) And through this process other character win autoritas to suceed the partie leader when he dies or retire from political life. Ex. Pompey, Marc Antony. This could lead to party sucession crisis forming new parties or even civil wars if the party was already overpowerful.
- Tying to provinces and Pops - Each party leader should defend a set of politics that will gain him favor with certain pop types over other. Also provinces would start to have loyalty to a certain party because of this or governors etc and should civil war breakout, provinces take sides. (Vicky II political alignment + CKII rebelion system).
- Party resources - Parties should have a pool of Money and prestige to invest in the promotion of characters through elections, recruitment of unities to armies etc.
- Oficial Roles attained by your characters should give diferent abilities to the party.
I think this system should emulate well the duality of controlling the state and still in the background promoting certain characters and families to greatness.
II Military system
For a Roman Senator there was no distinction between a military and political career. Military conflicts were a huge oportunity for political advancemnt and gaining a military role was a huge oportunity. I would propose a mix of March of the eagles + CKII + Hearts of Iron (simplified)
- If your party wins the consulate or a military post you should be able to nominate your staff from your party character pool. (like comanders in CK II)
- Shoud the army be too big you have to nominate more characters (Armies "Divisions" = Legions with respective Legate, responding to a central General figure.
- In battle they should use the CK II layout with two flanks, a center and add reserves (instrumental in Caesar sucess) each with a commander and you shoud be able to use your reserves in battle.
- In the strategic view I'm already glad to see a lot of provinces allowing interesting choices to strategical movement.I would just like to have supply lines represented and also the possibility of looting and enslavement of populace.
- As in CK fractions of prestige and wealth should go to the state, the main General and its subordinates.
This are my two main requests for Imperator - Rome. If something similar is implemented I would play this game for years!!
