As the title states, I simply can't keep up with all the micro-managing with planets... especially late game.

It's a burden with a handful of planets, but when you start conquering planets and taking over races and ethics that oppose you it's too much

What happened to Sectors?
A huge key-point that the devs talked about was the lack of micro-managing.

Mind you it's fun early on to plan out your "core" planets, but becomes way too much to manage on a grand scale later on.

How are you all keeping up with 10+ Planets by mid-game?

Yes, it's a pain in the ass, and you can't leave sector management to AI, if you don't want to die. There should be a decision or smth for every planet, or manual sector management. I want this goddamn planet to be mine-world, cuz it has 20 mining districts, but I don't want my entire sector to be focused on that, why can't we do that?

I honestly don't get the complaints about micro. That 'micro' is more than half the game. Without it, you are just sitting on your thumbs doing nothing and watching the years tick by. Not to mention you can just pass planets off to the sector AI to take care of it.

If you hate the sector AI, well, it's always been like that.

By the time late game comes I'm swimming in resources. I just prebuild every district I want and every couple decades add a new building. It really isn't that bad. It really just boils down to what resource I need, then just spam that.

I haven't done that well either. I've had two games, and in both I ended up with ~50 planets. Quite the nightmare. I lose my patience and build multiple buildings every ten years rather than going through my planets every year, and this results is a massive economy crash when the buildings come online and all my miners go work in the alloy factories. The economy is definitely set up to encourage frequent micro-transactions and heavily penalizes leaving cities with buildings without workers.

This in and of itself is a sad statement to be honest. The game is definitely more fun than it used to be but it's still not there yet (hopefully a diplo rework so do the trick).

Not to mention you cam jist pass planets off to the awctor AI to take care of it.

This is only partly true. With the stupid small sectors now and the fact you can't set them to retain a certain amount of resources (you manually assign them instead), getting sectors to reduce the load of micro adds.... a load of tedious micro.

Its a game focused on empire management and creation, this involves colonizing and developing planets. War is another factor, but leads back to planetary developement in the end. Diplomacy has nwver really been fleshed out, but it wouldn't really change this.

It has always been the focus of the game and likely always will. This update simply took what was already the focus and made it more interesting, albeit buggy as all hell.

This is only partly true. With the stupid small sectors now and the fact you can't set them to retain a certain amount of resources (you manually assign them instead), getting sectors to reduce the load of micro adds.... a load of tedious micro.

It takes me less than 30 seconds to open the sector menu and spam the settings I want down the lost, but I usually do it as new sectors appear so rarely do I have to do multiple at once.

But I do agree they need to bring back custom sectors.

On my rig, the late game is so slow that I want the micro. At least it gives me something to do.

I noticed to keep track it really helps to use the messages on the top of the screen. Whenever one pops up, click on it and you will go to that planet. Managing your empire is a lot easier if you listen to and use the messaging system.

I have 27 planets currently. I just check planets every few years, build some more jobs than there are pops and let it populate for some more years. Sometimes I have to check job priorities, but that's seldom. You have to keep in mind that they promote, so you have to have a plan for a planet or you have problems. I have slaver guilds in this playthrough, and it stops workers from promoting quite nicely, although it makes total specialization of a planet impossible, because you always have to have workers.

I'm playing an agresavely wide civ atm (My rule is if a world is showing green I must colonise it if I possibly can) aside from running at a rather frightfull energy deficet and massave food surplus I'm at year 2284 and 12 worlds and counting and doing fine I just pause every so often to see how things are and issue plans, then continue. Its not that hard solong as you have a plan and stick to it.

It's good to get fen habbanis. And take the arcology Project! in the ascension perk.
In my 3 rd game I wanted to test the resettle function in huge scale. You need about 1 arc world for every 500-750 pops. And then resettle pops to those world to get huge amounts of consumer goods and alloys in districts. Those won't need those advanced ressources. Also resettle to planets to keep the colony time as short as possible. If you have too much basic ressources -> more pops in arc worlds. I move about 10% of all pops every 5 year cycle of planet investigation and planning. current 2k pops

I donteven sweat the resetlment, I'm on an engergydeficit and supporting my slaver/syncretes on an ENORMOUS agracultural surplus. Didnt get Fen, but yeah arcology progect when I get there will change the game in mean time I'm still in the land grab phase which might well last a while as a quarter of the galaxy or so has been secured by judicious station placement. (If a section isnt going anywhere I'll claim it when I can in the mean time regions that might even possibly be contested get claimed).

I wish we had the old sector system. Now it feels like ever planet goes in it’s own sector, unless the are right next to another planet. Plus even when I give the AI my plants to mange’s it screws them up.

Learn to know when a planet is "done." If you already have a solid core, you don't need to build up every little colony on the edge of your empire. I often set up most of my new worlds to be small mining colonies, maybe with a few other rural districts. Not every world needs to be fully developred up to 80 pops. You can often use those resources elsewhere to greater effect. Once you've done that, the only thing you need to do is resettle, which is annoying, but you can make a pass through and steal pops off the top of anything with 3-4 unemployment every so often, and that can be something you're doing as part of building up new stuff.
