I can't install and unistall HoI2

Hi, I've just brought the game, and unfortunately, I'm having problems to install the game. In fact, there are two problems

Here is some information about my game and system:

- It's the spanish version of the game, published by Friendware. Since I haven't played it I'm not sure about the version, but I think it's 1.01 seeing the registry entry.

- I'm using Windows 98 4.10.2222 A

- I'm using an procesor AMD 2100 with 512 RAM

- I've got two hard drives, C has 564 MB free; D has 4'64 GB free (I obviously tried to install the game on D: )

- Version Direct X: 9.0b

- Video card is an NVidia gforce3 64 MB.

I've tried to put all the information you asked in the sticky, but the information of the video card maybe isn't exact (but it's an NVidia with 64 MB for sure) and the CPU (it was an AMD, but I'm not sure the number, it was around 2000) If it's needed, I can try again, but if you tell me where to look, I would be really gratefull

Well, here are the problems:

Problem 1

When I tried to install the program, it was installing when around the 30% of the instalation it stopped and told me about an error with KERNELL (I can't reproduce exactly the message because I wanted to try install the game, but I couldn't because "problem 2")

Problem 2

I tried to uninstall the program, but I couldn't. So I followed the instructions of the sticky "How to manually uninstall HoI2". I deleted the entry, but when I try to install it, there appears the dialog of "repair, modify, uninstall" I must say that I've tried the three options, but nothing happens (it put the bar on the 100% really fast, and says that the operation has been done).

Inmediately after deleting manually the entry, the autorun program gives the option of "install", but if I try a second time it doesn't, so I try with 'setup' directly without results neither.

One more thing, in the registry, in the folder of "Hearts of Iron 2" it appears:

Each time I try to install the game after deleting the entry manually, it creates again the registry entry as shown above.

Okay make sure you remove the install shield entries as well.

There are a few errors involving the Ikernal, all of them installshield errors. So if you get that one again please copy the wording down.

Thank you very much, that was the problem . I had to delete the folder of HoI2 in the "InstallShield Installation Information" folder and that was done.

The problem with Ikernel repeated, but I have of problem with the computer that gets too hot (these months are really hot in Madrid :wacko: ) so I tried again after being switched off for a while and it worked fine, so probably was that the problem.

Or simply that removal of the installshield stuff required a reboot of your system to bring IKernel back in line. A reboot which you forced by turning your PC off and then back on again.

Anyway, glad it's sorted out.

Well, finally as I had problems after the upgrade of the game to 1.02 ( reported in this thread ) I decided to reinstall the game... probably not a good idea because the problems with Ikernel arose again and looks like they don't dissapear like before.

The error message says:

Well, my Spanish isn't nearly as good as your English, but what I think it says is something like IKernel caused a page fault in moduke kernel32. That's not really helping all that much, except for noting that 9 out of 10 times a page fault is caused by the memory manager of Windows, when it runs into some kind of problem with the swap file.

You could try running the setup program with Windows booted into Safe Mode, and see if it works then.
