I can't ally anyone as Wallachia

I recently started trying to play as Wallachia after finding out Romania was my great grandfather's homeland. From what I've seen there are 2 starts and they're equally as difficult: Wallachia and Moldavia. I chose Wallachia and started a game... about 50 times. To get to the core of the issue I cannot ally anyone no matter what I try. I got an advisor to enhance my reputation but it was fruitless. I built my army up as large as I could and there was still no luck. I'm always short by some degree. Is there any way to do this without allies or are they essential? How can I overcome this?

Fabricate claims on Hungary and wait for the Ottomans to attack them, then you do the same and quickly occupy the provinces next to you. When Ottomans have carpet sieged Hungary you sue for peace and take provinces from them. You should be able to get allies after that.

I waited until someone else allied Hungary, guaranteed them nation and made sure I occupied everything to get a nice separate peace once they got attacked.

You're never the first minor to be eaten because of ICC. Used to suffice to ally Hungary.

If you can't, just wedge yourself into someone else's war.

It's not pretty, but it works.

In this patch you'll be attacked long before Hungary is if you get no allies. The Ottomans' aggression towards Wallachia has gone up, and even if you get Hungary themselves as an ally (much easier now as they seemingly no longer rival you) you'll still die.

Ottoman doesn't guarantee Wallachia anymore? Oh, I guess that changes it. I haven't played that part of the world in quite some time.

It's more difficult. You can counteract rivalry by just restarting. Even on older patches the chance to have them rival you was extremely low.
On the current patch you have a permanent "too many dip rel" -20 no matter how often you start.

And you can easily win a war with Hungary in your pocket. It's just a tad annoying.

Moving starts 10 years back when sitting around Ottos can be tricky. It certainly got more difficult.

Hasn't happened in some time. AI Wallachia does get guaranteed by them sometimes, but even that's rare, doesn't happen instantly and still ends with them being eaten (1.23) or vassalized (more common in 1.24) by the Ottomans. I've personally never been guaranteed by them in 1.23 and 1.24.

In 1.23 in particular, which is when I did most of my attempts, it was upwards of 30-40%, whereas I haven't seen it since 1.24.

You can reliably stop the Ottomans from sieging you down, but Hungary will die before you do unless you go way above FL, get a good general (not likely initially) or Hungary gets smart and figures out how to engage correctly along with you (far easier said than done).

Not being able to (reliably) ally Poland anymore is probably the whole point of the post. They no longer start friendly and they're the hardest of the 3 Christian big hitters (Poland, Bohemia, Hungary) to ally now. Bohemia is no longer friendly either, but on some occasions they will hold off on getting too many relations and will eventually just about ally you.

Hungary is just a crappy ally in general because everyone and their mothers has direct access to their capital and it's a level 1 farmland defense.
If you look outside the window to admire a sundown, then look back at the monitor, Hungary already surrendered.

You haven't even declared war and they've already surrendered. Sometimes I don't even need to turn on my PC. I just get a text message saying "Hungary surrendered".

Though there were a few pathing options on every patch so far where you got a good engage pretty much guaranteed.

30%-40% isn't my experience, but you have a chance either way. Too many diplomatic relations is guaranteed to show up, turning +0 if you really need it into -20 no matter what you do.

Reminds me of the introduction of favors tbh. The region got a bit more tricky and some people can't handle it.

On the plus side: Ottos on the current patch are being delayed a ton, which equals it out a bit.

Allying Poland is like eating plastic. Serves you in the short run, but you'll probably die.

It's basically impossible to no cb too because you're either blocked from attacking them or they out number you significantly. I think I'm going to give Moldavia a shot as I don' think I'm quite skilled or lucky enough to pull it off as Wallachia

PDX is trying to indoctrinate players by showing them that you can't be a good Romanian unless you are a slave to the Poles. We should protest in front of their office.

Moldavia should be a lot easier on the current patch though. Especially if Poland denies the PU.
