I have revised the Scotland Ascendant Union event code. Here is what I have so far:

Code:
#The Act of Union, Scotland Ascendant #
event = {

	id = 30000
	trigger = {
		NOT = { exists = ENG
			exists = PUR
			exists = ROY
			}
		owned = { province = 240 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 241 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 242 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 243 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 244 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 245 data = -1 }
		owned = { province = 247 data = -1 }
		}
	random = no
	country = SCO
	name = "English Act of Union"
	desc = "When James Stuart took the English throne in
1603, he naturally chose to rule from London. England was the
far more prosperous and populous of his realms. He left Scottish
rule essentially to its own devices. Much to the world's surprise,
this was an excellent policy for Scotland. Expected to become at
best a stepchild kingdom, Scotland thrived under the Royal
Neglect, as it came to be called. A century after the dynastic
union, Scottish merchants dominated English ports and Scottish
generals directed English armies. In 1701, the two parliaments
voted to unite their laws and practices under the Scottish model."
	style = 4

	date = { day = 1 month = january year = 1700 }
	offset = 10
	deathdate = { day = 1 month = january year = 1820 }

	action_a = {			#Unite Great Britain under Scottish Domination#
		name = "Och Aye! The Muckle Inch is Oorn!"
		command = { type = flag which = 6 }
		command = { type = add_countryculture which = anglosaxon }
		command = { type = domestic which = CENTRALIZATION value = -1 }
		command = { type = domestic which = ARISTOCRATIC value = -1 }
		command = { type = stability value = 1 }
		command = { type = sleepmonarch which = 04049 }
		command = { type = sleepmonarch which = 04050 }
		command = { type = sleepmonarch which = 04051 }
		command = { type = wakemonarch which = 00002 }
		command = { type = wakemonarch which = 00003 }
		command = { type = wakemonarch which = 00004 }
		command = { type = wakemonarch which = 00005 }
		command = { type = country which = ENG }
	}
	action_b = {			#Cut England Loose#
		name = "We dinnae need those Sassanachs."
		command = { type = independence which = ENG }
		command = { type = domestic which = CENTRALIZATION value = -2 }
		command = { type = domestic which = ARISTOCRACY value = 1}
		command = { type = stability value = -1}
	action_c = {			#Balkanize the Crown Possessions!#
		name = "FREEDOM!  FREEDOM!  FREEDOM!"
		command = { type = independence which = ENG }
		command = { type = independence which = EIR }
		command = { type = independence which = WLS }
		command = { type = domestic which = CENTRALIZATION value = -3 }
		command = { type = domestic which = ARISTOCRACY value = 2}
		command = { type = stability value = -3}
}

So how does this look?

Hmm. didn't the scots have a great deal of English influence even at the start of the game? Maybe they should begin with anglosaxon...

I think it's just 'to know'.

I consulted my wife (She's frae Edinburgh but that is nearly Scottish) and she concurs.

However, in keeping with our natural Scottish modesty, it is normal to use the short form of "I" so I think it should read:
"a dinnae ken why there's nae Scotland EEP"
or even:
"a dinnae ken how ther isnae a Scotland EEP"

An dinnae ferget Scotland is saed as tho it wer "Scoatland".

Not to be confused with "Ingerlund " often heard on fitba' terraces further south. :D

Since a' this discussion is aboot the Scots (largely Anglo-Saxon) language it makes the point that Scottish culture should not be considered essentially Celtic and this was true a long way back. :)

I thought that Scotland would automatically keep the Gaelic culture it already had. I'm not up on the scripting language.

Do the Powers that Be of the EEP bother to read threads about countries like Scotland?

As the threadmaster for the EEP British Isles thread, I guarantee you that I keep a watch on such threads. I try to keep track of all ideas, events, concerns, etc. for everything dealing with England, Scotland, Eire, Wales, the Puritans, & the Royalists, in that thread & others. All good ideas will be included, provided they don't conflict with other events. Don't worry about no one noticing - you have some good ideas, & hopefully they will make their way into EEP v1.2.

The idea of transforming Scotland into England as a result of a English Act of Union (along the lines of your event) is intriguing, as it would solve the problem of copying English events into the Scottish file. I would suggest that England's DP settings should be adjusted somewhat, as a "Scottish" Britain would likely be somewhat different from an "English" Britain. It can be easily done with an event or two.

How about this for a Scots event:

1494 - First record of Whisky being distilled.

Effects could be something like:

Increase value of Grampians +1
Stability -1 :D:D
