This is a story I have to tell and also I need advice. I'm playing as Germany on Normal in Historical Stony Road mod 2.06. I wrote down dates of battles

June 22 1941-Invade Soviet Union, start Operation Barbarossa with 140divs
June 22-November 1941- Advance deep into the U.S.S.R., stall at Rostov, Moscow, and Leningrad (didn't take Moscow nor Lenengrad).
The Soviet Resistance before that was fierce. They kept falling back but left numerous troops behind to defend.
July 4th-July 18th-The fiercest battle for me was Kiev, encircled 45 Red Army divisions there and I lost 45 manpower (45000 men) trying to take it even though I encircled it.
July 18th-August 30th- Kept pushing the Soviets back to where around I am now:Along Moscow (provinces in front) and Leningrad (Luga taken by me, surrounded on German Side not Finnish side). And Along Rostov in the southern Front.
September 14th-September 29th Launch a massive assault on Moscow including 42 divs (HQ's), 4 Stuka Squadrons, 4 Tac Bomber squadrons. Almost won but 12 Soviet Divisions stopped the attack. Lost around 96,000 men.
Sept 29th 1941-April 30th 1942: Reinforce Northern Front due to mass Red Army buildup in that area. Bring new divisions from Germany/France/Axis allies and build up for the Southern Offensive of 1942 totallying around 75 divisions.
July 1942-November 15th: Everything prepared and launch the offensive against the Caucasus and towards Stalingrad. Break through and almost reach Stalingrad but massive Soviet counterattack with around 100 divs ( ) stopps the advance, I lost 15 divisions because of Encirlclement.No
November 15th 1942-Feburary 1943: Soviets push me back to Rostov to my present day situation.
It is now March 1943. It is all quiet on the eastern front. I have set up defensive positons on the rivers as bestly as I can. The Red Army totals around 5,000,000 men (500 divs). I have around 2,500,000 Soldiers (250 divs). I cannot seem to break through the soviet lines. I have tried with the Luftwaffe but the Red Air Force has around 150 planes! . I fear I will REALLY face the fate of the German Wehrmacht of World War 2 on th Eastern Front.

I have no idea what else to do, the Soviets have an IC of 422, even though I have 420, I have to put forth supplies, consumer good, etc...

Any suggestions?

WOW! You are following historical course preety well - except that battles for Moscow and Stalingrad happened a little bit too soon.... However, that is bad news for you
Have you done sealion? How is it on the west? The last thing you want is a D-Day.

On the Eastern Front, I would suggest concentrating your armor into 2 spearheads and trying to even out the forces through some encirclements. Time is working against you. With allies creeping closer to Fortress Europa, Italy collapsing and Japan in retreat, you need to take initiative and get Bitter Peace at ANY cost.

Nice game! i've never had such a close hsitorical outcome although i have just started playing the stony road, and the historical sequence got messed up after the finns refused to sue peace in the winter war(I am germany). but still i think u cant do anything in ur sitation . Just remeber the 1944 scenario just without the allies in normandy. The soviets would have won the war by themselves anyways.

have you researched doctrines and inv + armour, how technically advandced are the sovs ?

damn that looks loike a fun game , should give HSR a second chance.

normally in that situation i would agree with wath is written above.

consilidate your front line with sufficient defense so the sovs can´t break through easily. form to big armored and motorized or mechanized army groups, focus on the biggest sov troops concentration and encircle it. after you erased them, retreat to your original position focus on the next one and so on....

or try to create pockets in your front line where it appears easy for the sovs to attack. put your troops in a circle around that province behind your frontline and after some sov divisions moved into the pocket close the pocket again and play the encirclement game.

by the way how much manpower do you have left and why is you´re army only 250 divs ?

Well I'm going to try again when I get home to pull more reserves in to the southern front and try to break through the Soviet Lines once again. I'm going to try and make a Kursk except this time, I hope my armor's going to win. Yes, the last thing I want is a D-Day. No I didn't perform a sealion because the allies smashed my fleet with numerous bombers in the beginning of the war. I've conqured France, Vichy's there, and I'm fighting in North Africa around Tunisia (germany got french territories in north africa). So yeah....

You mean the Bandit mod? That gives the SU closer to 500 divisions if you advance fast enough. It's good, because if you mess up you could end up with a situation both like our good friend here and the real German army.

No real need for hindsight, but capturing Moscow and Leningrad as well as loads of divisions earlier on would have made things easier for you. However, giving it's too late for that, you need to get your arm/mec divisions into one huge army group (about 40-60 divisions). Support it with another 40 infantry divisions. Leave the other 150 divisions to defend your frontline, if you don't see it as cheating despite HSR telling you not to do it, then mil control your allies and put Romanians and Finns on your frontline.. Then smash their southern front completely (panzer pincer, infantry support etc). This will even up the numbers as well as giving you passage to the backdoor of the Soviet lines, the Volga. Don't try and ignore the southern front, it is the most important in a HSR game as it allows you to bypass those well defended level 6 fortifications.

on to your problem, clearly an offensive on all fronts will not work like it did early in the invasion, focus on moscow, with massive armor and troop superiority, in that local sector, to surprise them and take the city, even possible try to drive a wedge north and south of moscow to stop them easily moving troops to the area.

take moscow and consolidate, then leningrad in a similar move.

could we pls see a screenshot of the east front, easier to help with that.

1 division is around 17,000 soldiers..

So 500 divs. is 8,500,000 soldiers and 250 divs. is 4,750,000 soldiers..
Plus! Every brigade has between 4-5000 soldiers..

I am going to make some radical suggestions. Start retreating your lines along the whole front. Move all of your most mobile divisions to a concentration area south of the east-west line through Moscow(you choose where). Thin out the rest of your line ruthlessly. I would look at concentrating at least 100 divisions for your strike force. Then launch a concentrated attack on a front of about 4 provinces. You should be able to strike the Russian lines with your full force without them having concentrated against you. Their forces will be moving and not dug in. After this point use your initiative.

I have to admit that if it was me the strike force might be close to 70% of the available forces for the eastern front. It doesn't matter if you have to retreat in other sectors.

Well from what I heard, 1 manpower=1000 men so Inf div=10 mp so= 10,000 soldiers

Anyways, I'm can't figure out how to get the screenshot to work on HSR, i've pressed F11, F12 but can't get it to work, any suggestions? And if you can take a screenshot, where is it sent too? Because I'd really like for you guys to see this front

well, to take a screenshot, press the print screen (Prt Scr) button on your keyboard. Its up by pause and scroll lock. Then go into paint, and select the paste option from the edit menu. It'll put the picture into paint. THen save it as JPG, and upload to the internet.
