I can't believe I am the only fan of such nerdy game
who is obsessed over statistics, fun data, fun facts, fun numbers and charts etc.
In fact, in all grand strategy games one of my favourite parts of gameplay is observing how the alternate world history is developing and looking at statistics to check which nations are economic powerhouses etc.
EU4 does OK job here: we have info on the nations' armies, navies, income and income by 'sector' (trade, production, taxes, gold), we have info on current wars and main trade goods producers, we have info on world's religions...
...but not really much more. With EU love for small awesome details and such stuff, I think it would be awesome if Global Statistics were enhanced and provided us more interesting stuff. Also, with limited role of espionage in the game, it would be nice to get some more info about neighbors and outside world... If nobody likes this vision, I will create mod like that.
For example...
- Province Value by country (not to mistake with income; exit-game-screen has 'province value' for your own country but statistic charts not?!)
- BASE Manpower - currently we can see Manpower for each country but distorted by all permanent and periodical modifiers possible, while it is practical it would be also nice to see 'base' capabilities of each nation to maintain armies ('population'?)
- Number of provinces per country via simple numerical chart, not hard-to-read diagram. Even better: number of provinces a particular nations have today/had 25 years ago/50 years ago etc to check what are current 'development trends'.
- Speaking about development: some cool way to show which nations' Income/'GDP' is rising the fastest over last decades.
- Westernization Chart: each nation listed by its +/- technological modifiers, possibility to Westernize/progress of Westernization, current technological group etc. so we know our greatest rival is going to outtech us soon!
- Colonization: colonial nations, their colonies, their colonial capabilities, a bunch of statistics about 'which nation opresses natives the best' - oops I mean, which nation is enlightening natives the best
- TOTAL MILITARY LOSSES by country: losses due to Attrition, Battles, Rebels, Naval Losses etc.
- The list of Greatest Wars during the game: the longest/bloodiest/biggest conflicts!
- Rebels: all currently active global rebel armies list by type - how many nationalists, how many peasants, which countries have the biggest problems with them?
- Badboys: which countries are the most hated in the world!
- All global leaders, possible to segregate by their age/strenght of claims to the throne/legitimacy/monarch points -> this could be also really useful for diplomatic games...
- Infrastructue: number of buildings per country divided by its number of provinces.
- Global Manufacures per country and type.
- Best Armies: armies listed by Morale, Discipline, Military Tactics, Army Tradition.
- Idea Groups: which countries take what idea groups? Which idea groups are the most popular?
- Internal Problems: each country listed by its Overextension, Stability, Religious Unity, Percentage of Unaccepted Cultures, Percentage of Cores
- Defense: countries listed by 'average' garrison size of their countries, Defensiveness, Siege Ability, Attriton Bonuses, Coring Penalties Aganst Them
- Failed States Index: historical list of countries who have gone Bankrupt, Fallen due to rebellions, Annexed
- Pure Military Power: countries listed by their combined pipes of all land/naval units + combined pipes of their all generals/admirals - this would allow to see 'real' military strenght of nations, not just numbers of troops
- Governments: countries listed by their Government Type, Legitimacy/Republican Tradition - also I would love to see a map mode like this
- Hall of Fame: world's best leaders/generals/admirals who appeared over the course of history. Maybe even: best leaders from history of every country.
- Exploration: the list of all world's historical Explorers and Conquistadors, including their nationality, lenght of life, number of provinces they have discovered for their nations.
- Real Income: countries listed by their income... Adjusted by inflation, periodical bonuses and stability points.
Wouldn't it be fun?
Wouldn't it be useful? (if you think 'free data' like this is 'cheating', well, it can be for example enabled by investing in Espionage!)
Wouldn't it be RELATIVELY easy to add? I mean, it wouldn't require any graphical adjustments/tags/events/balance, technically just a bunch of calculations wrapped in nice UI...
As I said - if Paradox will never add stuff like this to its games, I will create them compulsively
