I am not a tribute, but I am not decreasing Ming's mandate?

As a Great Power Ryukyu, I got 2 provinces from Lian Xiang and I am now directly border Ming. I am not their tributary. I have 3.5K development. But somehow Ming's mandate is decreasing only from Lian Xiang's because they're also not a tributary. at -.12 per month. Somehow the game doesn't count my decrease of the mandate.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Is your capital still on an island? If so, that counts as 'not having a border via land-bridge'.

My capital is in Manilla so technically yes I guess I don't have land connection to Ming. If I moved my capital to say Constantinople which is in Europe would that work? Or do I have to move it to somewhere in Asia?

Your border needs to be attached to your capital with no interruptions to have an effect. Anything that gets in the way of the land bridge will not generate what you are trying to do. If you have an uninterrupted bridge of land from Constantinople, then its fine. If you have something blocking your lands in Asia from meeting in Europe, then no. Move your capital to someplace in Malacca and you will have your bridge.

It has nothing to do with the capital as such actually. It's just about how much land is contiguous to the part that touches Ming.

Edit: Here is game start as Brunei - a non-tributary country with its capital non-contiguous with Ming:

BCFF4D471369A99E76BEC7B77F96067278BE3D63

I then send Brunei's famous ninjas to conquer Dai Viet, Lan Xang and Ayutthaya and mandate loss from non-tributaries increases:

C69107BA90D6EFD5B1022804C8C3F04BE165EF5F

I then annex more of south east asia but leave a blocking Ligor in the way:

8260232F7C3BFD002B0B08D6D20BBDC53DB233E7

No change to mandate loss. I then integrate Ligor:

5BD3A0F7957D60B0699CCE2A7B64F6C8488402E2

And more mandate loss. I then moved my capital to Johor and nothing changed. I then moved my capital to Manila itself and again nothing changed. Therefore, it has nothing to do with the capital and is only to do with how much contiguous non-tributary land borders Ming. In the OPs case the amount of land was simply too small to make a noticeable difference to mandate.
