OK. So as my other threads have indicated, I'm new to the game. I've been reading a ton, playing a lot, watching some videos, but I seem to get a great start, am always winning the tech race, but failing UTTERLY when it comes to anything passed the mid game it seems, as my resources never hold up and I cannot handle more than 1 threat at a time.
Generally any run goes like this.
1. Expand to chokes, but keep my Admin penalty either 0 or low.
2. Build up (not wide), focusing on tech's.
3. Get to a decent enough size and keep eveyone friendly with me if possible. (2250-2350?)
4. Get to a position where I can handle a single mid game (Horde Khan or Grey Tempest) but BARELY while struggling to build up enough resources.
5. Look at the date (2400-2450) and realize there is no way I win.
I feel, that the issue is I'm not expanding in steps 2 and 3, but is that it? Am I just focusing on the Admin penalty too much?
Also for Traditions I normally and doing the explore/expand/discover ones first. I dont federate, and then by the time its mid/late game, I get the combat tree, and then...I'm pretty much resigned to losing.
What is a realistic goal to shoot for at the 2350 year mark in terms of territory and resources?
It's a little like that.
