So, just for kicks, I saved once Hungary was created and loaded up as them - and lo and behold! I got the Austrians to accept stats quo peace with me, and they declared war again a months later. This time, I defeated them and took several of their provinces. I only won because the Serbian/Croatian revolt happened mid-war, so the Austrians had to deal with a loss of troops and a bunch of revolters. Not only did they eventually offer peace and recognize my independence, but the revolters spawned Croatia, which I ceded provinces to and satellited.

Anyone else tried their hand at Hungary?

Although I was tempted to try it, I dont like such an ahistorical setup, so I did not do it. But reading you it must have been fun.

I played as Hungary before - but edited them in as an independent nation from 1836.
It was my first real game with V:R - at a time when I still believed in conservatism in the game.
Needless to say, the game didn't go too well. :eek:o

I've played as revolter/released nations before and I've considered playing as Hungary.

As for conservatism in games... it adds an extra challenge to see how long you can stay despotic and remain a power on the world stage. I oftentimes like to leave my nations as Monarchies long into the games, full well knowing it makes me weaker and the game harder.

A few times, I tried it with VIP, by playing as Prussia until the Austrians got their revolt event, then switched to Hungary and played on from there. It was good, but it was still pre-Revolutions, so industrialising wasn't that easy. Mainly I just built up a navy and an army, and tried to find some colonies.
