In the first game I started as Austria I noticed that in the religion map that
Hungary was the german emperor.

I saw that both in EU2 version 1.08 and then again when I tried the AGC EEP version - always when starting as Austria then Hungaria became the german emperor...

Has there been any mention yet about the german electors/Kurfürsten?
Because in the first scenarios there ought to be only 7 electors and neither Oldenburg or Mecklenburg or such should be one (only Mainz, Köln, (Trier), Palatinate, Brandenburg, Sachsen and Böhmen).

In later scenarios their number should raise to 8 and then 9 - but all the others should not be electors. Is there any reason why so many german minors have been marked as "electors"

Hungary is the emperor from game start, he is not elected, it is part of the scenario setup. Once the king of Hungary dies, the emperor status will pass on to the one who gets the most votes.

I think it might be because german minors have a habbit of annexing each other, so if only the names you mention above were electors, then there might be an elector shortfall later.

IRL, Sigismund (1368-1437) was the king of Hungary form 1387 ( also he was the king of Bohemia, duke of Luxembourg ) Sigismund became emperor in 1410. Usually the game starts in 1419, and Sigismund was the emperor till 1437 , so its not a bug, this happend in the real life ;)

Oh - and I wondered why someone outside the HRE would be emperor of it. But when he also was king of Bohemia and duke of luxemburg, why is the title above hungary and not above Bohemia or Luxemburg which are inside the HRE borders?

About the electors - is there no way to let the number stay 7 when an elector is annexed? e.g. let a country have 2 votes when controlling two electors? Or having the emperor granting the vote to another country when an elector is annexed?

The king of spain has also been emperor once.
What sounds best for a nation owning Hungary, king of Luxenbourgh or king of Hunagry?
;)

Well, Sigismund was the duke of Luxembourg and not the king.

Oh - and I wondered why someone outside the HRE would be emperor of it. But when he also was king of Bohemia and duke of luxemburg, why is the title above hungary and not above Bohemia or Luxemburg which are inside the HRE borders?

At that time Hungary was a "great power" in eastern Europe, at least more powerfull than Bohemia. Plus the Hussite revolts weakened Sigismund position in Bohemia. Plus ( :D ) Sigismund lived in Hungary. And finally, Hungary, with Croatia, was larger than Bohemia. And Luxembourg :D

The Elector situation is more for gameplay than history. While there were seven or so in real life, in an average game of EU2 you could be without any of them by 1500, and it could get confusing. This is a way of assuring you always have somebody to elect an emperor.

There is a lot of unhistoricness about emperors in HRE - like Karlo V - he was HRE emperor but not Austrian like in game. Maria Terezia was Austrian empress but not HRE empress like in game. Her husband Franz von Lorraine was HRE emperor - war for Austrian succession... A lot examples I have... ~D

Try AGCEEP-Mod, the ruler is now called "Maria Theresia & Franz I", which is fitting IMHO. Charles Quint is also the ruler of spain there.

What nations are electors? I've just maintained good relationships with all of the states inside the red border, but never checked to see what was what.

Thanks,

When in the religion view, hover your cursor over each state in the HRE and a tooltip will tell you if a state is an elector.

Actually the Austrian Empire was founded in 1804, by Francis II, emperor of the HRE, becoming emperor of Austria.
The two empires did not exist at the same time, for at the moment the austria Empire was proclaimed, the HRE ceased to exist, since two empires could not co-exist in the same physical place.
