Since the dlc common sense there is no hundred year war anymore. France and england are at peace. Without his severals vassals, france is a little weaker. We even be able to see france falling by powerfull neighbors !! I think that's very interesting to have a beatable france and not the invincible bbb that can rise again in couple of year after a lost.

The hundred year war still exist in a mission (for england). but no one use it, AI neither Player. In 1444 (start of the first campaign) there was the truce of Tours broken in 1449 by france. My idea is to put that in the game. At the begening france and england are at peace with a truce ending in 1449. When the truce end, an event trigger to put them at war one again, in that way each country are able to do some alliance (unlike before 1.12) before the war trigger. France is a little weakened. We may see, if we are luck, england win that war. Taking land or restore union.

It's one of the most important and famous war of medieval age, don't remove it !! :3

I never told that france and england never go to war ^^ i just suggest to put again the hundred year war and his restoration union on the table. England can win because the AI is a little better and france a little weaker that before. since there is a truce they can both make alliance, it give chance to both side and give us a more interresting hundred year war. Yes france can attack with a reconquest CB, or even england sometimes but that's not the hundread year war. This war is now totally removed, no one use it. AI is too dumb/prudent to use it and all player are traumatised by previous version where France was a bbb and 90% of all new game ended with an instant peace with england giving everything back to france.

Perhaps the best solution would be to add a "hundred years war" cb to both england and france until A) the end of the HYW event happens, or B) England gets a PU over france. The CB would give vastly reduced AE for a union over france and for france retaking its cores. The reduced AE would simulate European apathy to the war (most nations in europe had stopped participating or taking sides by 1444 due to exhaustion after such a long period of conflict)

I love that. The war will be interesting again.

In 1444 (start of the first campaign) there was the truce of Tours broken in 1449 by france.

How did France break it? My understanding of treaty of Tours is this:
*Margaret of Anjou will marry Henry IV
*Truce until April of 1446
*England will return Maine to France

England violated the treaty by not returning Anjou and in 1449 truce was already expired.

It's one of the most important and famous war of medieval age, don't remove it !! :3

War? I hate it when people claim that it was one war, it was series of conflicts, at leas four main wars + multiple proxy wars and as long as England holds land in Normandy and Aquitaine it is on going conflict.

I'd like to see it back properly too. It's good that we start in the historic truce period but we need a more consistent way of re-instating it within a reasonable time period at the start. Right now we just have to get lucky in getting the mission as one of our three when we meet the criteria. I wasn't lucky enough in my England game so I have had to conquer France the long and expensive way.

I'd like to have seen England having that mission as one of its starting three as standard so they can re-initiate the war from their side. Not quite sure how it would work with France outside of having some sort of one-time core-retake CB that they would prefer over a regular conquest CB and would allow England the chance to PU France if they won instead. Could perhaps be a little complex to implement.

However, from England's perspective again, if the patch notes for 1.13 hold then how useful would re-initiating the war be due to the following change:

- No longer willing to join offensive wars where the attacker is attempting to force a union on a Great Power (unless it's a Succession War).

If I'm interpreting this correctly, this would prevent any allies England could gain during the truce period from helping it out in its PU war against France, and France is still strong enough to completely destroy and strip a lone England of its continental possessions meaning that England has no real benefit to attempting the PU this way.

However, this can also be flipped so that if this new restriction doesn't make it to 1.13 that, depending on the allies England and France make, England will often destroy France by having potentially more Great Power allies to come in and wreck its face and France is no longer able to fight them all off like they're nothing as it would in the past and thus removing the challenge, and subjectively the fun, of the war in the first place.

Perhaps it doesn't need to be strictly tied to CB's. Perhaps in the next war between England and France that starts between the start of the game and, say, 1450, if France has sieged and taken control of all England's French cores a "HYW" event fires that allows them to declare victory and take all cores, excluding Calais, back. And if England sieges and controls Paris and some other conditions a similar "HYW" event fires for them allowing them to install a PU over France instead of what CB they were using. Both events can be refused and normal peace mechanics can be used if preferred.
